SOPA and PIPA discussions have taken the US tech community and to the most part, the world tech communities by storm. Having spoken to many people, not many understand what these bills could entail for the tech industry.

Allows you to add hotspots on any photo or image.  You can have the hotspots give more information about something in the image, show a video or another image.  These images can then be embedded into your class website or blog and they will retain their interactivity. Think about using this as a cool presentation.  Add hotspots to a map to discuss history or a lit trip.  Add it to images of art with zoomed in hotspots highlighting the paint and items in the pictures.   It's great.

Some thoughts on technology (BYOD) use in the classroom - great discussion starter

Barbara Van Dahlen is an American psychologist who founded a non-profit organization called Give an Hour in order to help emotionally and mentally injured war veterans through offering free counselling. Give an Hour was founded in 2005 and is now composed of nearly 7,000 volunteers who have given an estimate of 57,000 hours of free service to soldiers who have served in the Middle East. Barbara has taken part in discussions concerning mental issues of men in uniform in Pentagon, Veterans Administration, White House, and Congress.

Pick a student at random just by giving your device a shake or tapping the screen -- but that's just the beginning. Stick Pick suggests question starters for learners at different levels and also records how well students respond during classroom discussions. If a student is consistently scoring near the top or bottom, simply change the level so students aren't bored or frustrated. Depending on students' levels of English proficiency, they might be asked simple yes-or-no questions or to elaborate in longer sentences.

Be all you can, but not always. I often see myself in the somewhat satisfied with my life things, but of course it is difficult to think of anything else when where are real issues to be discussed.

This would be excellent to discuss prior to initiating new initiatives.
