Using Moodle - Teaching with the Popular Open Source Course management System by Jason Cole and Helen Foster is published by O'Reilly as part of the Community Press series. It can be downloaded for free. Cool The first edition of the book, written by Jason Cole and released in July 2005, is based on Moodle 1.4. The second edition, released in November 2007, has been updated to cover all the features in Moodle 1.8, such as the new roles and permissions system, blogs, messaging and the database module.

Really bad news for all of who have used Ning free services! Jason Rosenthal: "We will phase out our free service.  Existing free networks will have the opportunity to either convert to paying for premium services, or transition off of Ning."

"Private Browsing" came in the 3.5 version update. It allows the user to browse without leaving any record behind - no history, no cookies, etc. This solution just removes the option from the tool menu. It can still be accessed with a keyboard shortcut.

Twitter could not possibly be further away from the concept of a computer game or a three dimensional visually rich virtual world. Suddenly instead of learning to fly and exchanging our money for Linden bucks (the currency of Linden Labs' Second Life) we were exchanging grammatically correct sentences for status updates of less than 140 characters! Who could have seen it coming? Perhaps Gartner, who also predicted that "90 Per Cent of Corporate Virtual World Projects Fail Within 18 Months".

Bowdon pointed out "how poorly ... traditional news media cover issues pertaining to children" (¶1), and illustrated the problem with what was then a news-breaking case in point, 48 hours after sending his findings to "Google's press office" and getting no response (¶14).
