The information the research team will collect includes any physical exams or computer generated data about your arm movements.

Baclofen Efficacy and Safety Trials - Pediatric Pharmacokinetic and Pharmacodynamic Study of Oral Baclofen for the Treatment of Spasticity Associated with Cerebral Palsy (BEST-PK/PD)

Medical College of Georgia researchers are conducting a clinical trial to determine whether an infusion of stem cells from umbilical cord blood can improve the quality of life for children with cerebral palsy.

Study designed to test the safety and efficacy of the Medigus SRS endoscopic stapling system for the treatment of GERD. The system allows the operator to staple the stomach to the esophagus,in order to restore the gastroesophageal flap valve. The effect of the stapling is similar to a common operation for GERD (partial fundoplication) but is done through the mouth, and incision into the abdomen is not needed.

Future planned study being conducted by the University of California to determine the safety and pharmacokinetics of moderate to high doses of erythropoietin in newborn infants with birth asphyxia.

Multicenter, randomized, controlled trial to compare the anti-seizure effect of parenteral MgSO4 versus oral labetalol in hypertensive pregnant women who are eligible for MgSO4 therapy. The primary outcome measure is eclampsia, and the secondary outcome measures include blood pressure control, and relevant antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal maternal and fetal/neonatal parameters including adverse effects and complications.

AHRQ Research and Quality Evidence Report and Technology Assessment: Number 72 - Failure to Thrive - Criteria for Determining disability in Infants and Children summary.The Social Security Administration (SSA) requested that the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), through its Evidence-based Practice Center (EPC) program, provide a systematic review of the scientific evidence on whether children, defined by investigators as failing to thrive or grow adequately, have a concurrent disability, or will have one within 6 months. The population of interest includes children age 18 years or younger, both male and female, of all racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic groupings. The evidence report was prepared to assist SSA in updating its Listing of Impairments and revising its disability policy, as may be appropriate.

NICHD program focuses on developing research that links PCCR medicine and science to the epidemiology, prevention, and treatment of childhood disabilities. The effort sponsors competitive research on all aspects of PCCR-including critical analyses of outcomes for children who are survivors of trauma, congenital anomalies, neonatal asphyxia, infectious processes, septic shock, and many other less common, but still devastating hildhood processes. The PCCR program also provides support for the Pediatric Critical Care Scientist Development Program (PCCSDP) , a national faculty training and career development program that develops successful pediatric critical care physician scientists conducting research to enhance the scientific understanding, clinical management, and rehabilitation of pediatric critical illness.
