The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) is the health services research arm of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), complementing the biomedical research mission of its sister agency, the National Institutes of Health. AHRQ is a home to research centers that specialize in major areas of health care research such as quality improvement and patient safety, outcomes and effectiveness of care, clinical practice and technology assessment, and health care organization and delivery systems. Source of funding and technical assistance for health services research and research training at leading U.S. universities and other institutions, as well as a science partner, working with the public and private sectors to build the knowledge base for what works-and does not work-in health and health care and to translate this knowledge into everyday practice and policymaking.

U.S. Department of Health &Human Services - Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality. The mission of CERTs is to conduct research and provide education that will advance the optimal use of drugs, medical devices, and biological products; increase awareness of the benefits and risks of therapeutics; and improve quality while cutting the costs of care. CERTs consists of 14 research centers and a Coordinating Center. The Centers receive funds from both public and private sources, with core financial support from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ).

The Medical Product Safety Network (MedSun) improves FDA's understanding of problems with the use of medical devices so that the FDA, healthcare facilities, clinicians, and manufacturers can better address safety concerns. The MedSun Web page is a newsletter-based website which provides monthly updates about timely medical device issues that may impact patient safety. This website also provides public access to de-identified reports 2 sent into the MedSun program, in addition to important safety information to MedSun participants and to the national clinical community about reported problems.

MedWatch - FDA Safety Information and Adverse Event Report Program - MedWatch alerts provide timely new safety information on human drugs, medical devices, vaccines and other biologics, dietary supplements, and cosmetics. The alerts contain actionable information that may impact both treatment and diagnostic choices for healthcare professional and patient.
