NICHD National Institute of Health Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health & Human Development - Center for Research for Mothers & Children CRMC - CRMC serves as a principal source of NIH support for research and research training in maternal and child health. Supported scientists are advancing fundamental and clinical knowledge concerning maternal health and child development problems, such as gestational diabetes, antecedents of adult diseases, obesity and overweight, specific learning disabilities, mechanisms of cognition and learning, growth retardation, HIV/AIDS, and other congenital infections and diseases. The Center also houses the primary federal research entity for research to understand the effects and effectiveness of pharmaceuticals on maternal and child health, as well as a large portfolio on the unique aspects of HIV/AIDS in women and mothers.

Title II - National Center for Special Education Research at idea.eg.gov - Mission.--The mission of the Special Education Research Center is-- (1) to sponsor research to expand knowledge and understanding of the needs of infants, toddlers, and children with disabilities in order to improve the developmental, educational, and transitional results of such individuals; (2) to sponsor research to improve services provided under, and support the implementation of, the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (20 U.S.C. 1400 et seq.); and (3) to evaluate the implementation and effectiveness of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act in coordination with the National Center for Education Evaluation and Regional Assistance. (c) Applicability of Education Sciences Reform Act of 2002.--Parts A and F, and the standards for peer review of applications and for the conduct and evaluation of research under sections 133(a) and 134, respectively, shall apply to the Secretary, the Director, and the Commissioner in carrying out this part.

Running in parallel with clinical care in the Phelps Center for Cerebral Palsy and Neurodevelopmental Medicine are several Phelps Center research projects designed to improve classification and treatment for children with cerebral palsy. Using advanced neuroimaging techniques in the Kennedy Krieger Institute Kirby Research Center for Functional Brain Imaging researchers have identified specific white matter pathways that carry messages from one part of the brain to another.

U.S. Department of Health &Human Services - Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality. The mission of CERTs is to conduct research and provide education that will advance the optimal use of drugs, medical devices, and biological products; increase awareness of the benefits and risks of therapeutics; and improve quality while cutting the costs of care. The Association of University Centers on Disabilities (AUCD) is a membership organization that supports and promotes a national network of university-based interdisciplinary programs. Network members consist of: 67 University Centers for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDD), funded by the Administration on Developmental Disabilities (ADD), 39 Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities (LEND) Programs funded by the Maternal and Child Health Bureau (MCHB), 19 Intellectual and Developmental Disability Research Centers (IDDRC), most of which are funded by the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute for Child Health and Development (NICHD). These programs serve and are located in every U.S. state and territory and are all part of universities or medical centers. They serve as a bridge between the university and the community, bringing together the resources of both to achieve meaningful change.

The Center for Cerebral Palsy Research was founded in 1996 and is committed to understanding the mechanisms underlying the symptoms of cerebral palsy and developing evidence-based treatment approaches targeting these symptoms. The Center is a non-profit organization located at Teachers College, Columbia University, a leading institution of Education, Health and Psychology. Our Center is committed to improving the lives of children with cerebral palsy through research. These include both speech and motor disorders associated with CP.
