The HRSA Maternal and Child Health Bureau improves the health of mothers, children and their families. Authorized under Title V of the Social Security Act, HRSA maternal and child health programs - Assure access to quality care, especially for those with low-incomes or limited availability of care. Reduce infant mortality. Provide and ensure access to comprehensive prenatal and postnatal care, especially for low-income and at-risk women. Increase the number of children receiving health assessments and follow-up diagnostic and treatment services. Provide and ensure access to preventive and child care services, as well as rehabilitative services for certain children. The Association of University Centers on Disabilities (AUCD) is a membership organization that supports and promotes a national network of university-based interdisciplinary programs. Network members consist of: 67 University Centers for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDD), funded by the Administration on Developmental Disabilities (ADD), 39 Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities (LEND) Programs funded by the Maternal and Child Health Bureau (MCHB), 19 Intellectual and Developmental Disability Research Centers (IDDRC), most of which are funded by the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute for Child Health and Development (NICHD). These programs serve and are located in every U.S. state and territory and are all part of universities or medical centers. They serve as a bridge between the university and the community, bringing together the resources of both to achieve meaningful change.

National Newborn Screening and Genetics Resource Center web site: GeNeS-R-US, (Genetic and Newborn Screening Resource Center of the United States). The National Newborn Screening and Genetics Resource Center (NNSGRC) is a cooperative agreement between the Maternal and Child Health Bureau (MCHB), Genetic Services Branch and the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio (UTHSCSA), Department of Pediatrics. Provides information and resources in the area of newborn screening and genetics to benefit health professionals, the public health community, consumers and government officials.
