A few of my students use Prezi. Basically like powerpoint, but visually a little more appealing. I'm assuming it's free, and probably stored in the cloud somewhere, so students can't really "lose" or forget it.

Prezi is free, and does have a sharing component. It is helpful for students that use Ipads, since Google presentation doesn't seem to work for them.

Nik's Learning Technology Blog - 2 views

  •
I've shared some of the apps from Niks blog already, there are some really great student and teacher tools for the language classroom and beyond. Short, easy to follow videos explaining each app are really useful. Watch out, though, found just a few links that are broken. Not all apps are free.

The 5 Best Free Annotation Tools For Teachers - eLearning Industry - 7 views

  •
I like the ideas offered on this site! I have never heard of web annotation before.
  •
In the reading classes I teach in ESOL, we teach academic reading skills to non-native English speakers to get the students ready for college-level textbooks. These tools would be very useful for students if we ever have any digital texts we read for the class.
  •
I had a hard time reading from the link! Once opened there were a ton of moving pop-ups that were very distracting. Did anyone else have that issue?

Very helpful step by step guide on how to create a quiz. A little more in depth than what we used for our assignment, imo.

  • For students, Padlet walls could be used to showcase digital work, as a digital notebook,

This is an idea that I'd like to explore.
  •
The article describes why and how to use Padlet. It emphasized its intuitive design and described it as digital wall that participants in the classroom can use to express their ideas, comments, suggestions etc.
  •
Interesting article. I will have to try it out. See it used, never used it myself.

We have used VoiceThread, I hope we will use a few more in the coming weeks. I noticed each said Free and some had paid with an i in a gray circle(?)
  •
I liked this list of applications (free and pay). Out of the thirty, I was only familiar with three: "VoiceThread", "Kahoot!", and "Screen-O- Matic".
