An interesting article on podcasting by Forbes online, predictin that podcasting is the future because of its ubiquity on both iOS and Android mobile phones. The younger generation is once again leading innovation's way with what to us older users was a technology of the 2000s. Podcasting has many uses for ESL/EFL, and having your students create a regular podcast series, scripting and recording it; or having them do podcast exchanges with students in another country -- these will be memorable learning experiences.

"Mit dieser Episode fahren die Präsentationen der Ergebnisse des ganztägigen Workshop der AG Podcasting am Duisburg Learning Lab fort. This is a series of low-cost ($1 U.S.) podcasts about various topics in multimedia uses for teaching. The topics include narrated slideshows, telling a digital story, using smartphones, quick edit videos on the iPad, and creating multimedia ebooks. W. Fryer is the author of Playing with Media, also relatively low-cost for ebooks.

This is truly the best of the best podcasts for the inquisitve mind. Includes links to TED talks, "Stuffy you missed in history class," "This American Life," and even "Wait, Wait..." for fun. Excellent for the teacher who wants to keep up, or the advanced learner who might want lots of listening practice while learning about American culture and interests.

This is an excellent example of how a teacher can use blogs and podcasting to create interesting and exciting activities for language learners, in this case in tandem with learners in other countries, while practicing all the language skills.

This list doesn't give you much info on what each site can do--and there is quite a range of capabilities--but at least the list of 70 is there. A teacher would have to explore carefully.
