This is the reincarnation of Wallwisher -- more colorful and vibrant, and still being adapted to new uses. Most recently I've seen Padlet (like Post-its for the Web) used as a way to collect interesting learning tools by crowd-sourcing.

"The invention of the LMS (Learning Management System) was a mistake. And here I'm not going to make the same frustrated argument made numerous times before now that LMSs are limiting structures, that their interface and functionalities control how teachers teach online (although those things are true). The LMS was a mistake because it was premature. In a world that was just waking up to the Internet and the possibility of widely-networked culture, the LMS played to the lowest common denominator, creating a "classroom" that allowed learning -- or something like learning -- to happen behind tabs, in threaded discussions, and through automated quizzes. The LMS was not a creative decision, it was not pushing the capabilities of the Internet, it was settling for the least innovative classroom practice and repositioning that digitally. As a result classes taught within its structure generally land with a dull thud. No matter how creative and inspired the teacher or pedagogue behind the wheel, the LMS is no match for the wideness of the Internet. It was born a relic -- at its launch utterly irrelevant to its environment and its user." Very thought-provoking article on how digital pedagogy really differs from just "teaching online."

"Teachers create grids of short discussion-style questions that students respond to through recorded videos. Flipgrid boosts community and social presence in face-to-face, hybrid, and online classrooms." Might be an interesting too to try, especially if you are doing a mostly online course.

Includes a great chart showing how various social media are used and how they integrate with each other for various specific purposes.

Some of these are totally worthless for classroom uses, but some are liable to make Twitter more organized and more social for your students to use for projects. As with other lists of tools, you need to explore, pick, and select.

This interesting tool allows a group of people to tweet to the same account without sharing passwords. Could be useful in setting up groups among students that you are able to monitor and control.

Med Karbach's blog is worth following. This particular article has a combination of good ideas and tools for the online teacher, including mobile apps and an infographic on the evolution of ed tech.

The author compares 10 bookmarking and annotating tools, such as Diigo and Scoop.it, Pinterest, etc.

It includes a nice overview chart (figure 1)..." An interesting article on the value(s) of communities (CoPs).
