We're calling this new feature Projects. Whenever you have a particular assignment or activity, you can create a project for it, then define teams of members, each with its own unique pages, files, and permissions. Team content (that is, pages and files) are grouped together, separate from the main area of the wiki. That way, students in teams can do their group work completely independently from other teams.

The Oral History in the Digital Age website connects interested persons and organizations to a range of resources related to crafting a meaningful and dynamic oral history project. Crafted by people at Michigan State University with funds from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), the site contains critical essays, How-To guides, and an elaborate wiki. The Getting Started area is a good place to begin, as it features helpful playlists about oral history projects. The Essays tab leads to another highly informative section of the site. The short pieces in this section are divided into three topics: Collecting, Curating, and Disseminating. The individual essays include "Enhancing Discovery: Connecting Users to Y our Oral History Collections Online" and "Oral History and Social Networks: From Promotion to Relationship Building." Finally, the Ask Doug option features expert responses to key questions on oral history projects from noted oral historian Doug Boyd

The Community of Scientists project seeks to pair up NH classrooms for inquiry-based science co-investigations, using technology for video and voice communication.  Teachers at Winchester School (K-8) in Winchester, NH, are working out initial technology questions by creating a Community of Scientists with Elementary Education Methods II students at Keene State College. The pilot project is to co-investigate hydroponics as a sustainable option for growing food rapidly in smaller areas. It entails setting up a simple classroom hydroponics station where students will explore how to best grow plants hydroponically.  KSC students will conduct and monitor their hydroponics experiments while students in Winchester School conduct similar experiment in their own hydroponic station in their classroom.  Students will then video chat with their co-investigators and share their findings.

explore the design and evaluation of digital media assignments. Using basic technology tools to chart story lines and to design media projects, participants will explore the use of media as an argumentative tool. In doing so, participants will explore the different processes and stages involved in the development of media assignments. This workshop will explore the ways in which we can clearly articulate goals and criteria with our students and with a thorough knowledge of content driven media projects. Participants will leave the workshop with evaluation criteria that is useful not only for evaluating student projects but that may also be used to critique existing media productions.

The publication Educating the Net Generation: A Handbook of Findings for Practice and Policy is now available to download. The Handbook is the main outcome of the Educating the Net Generation project. It provides a set of practice and policy guidelines developed from the project findings.

Bboogle is software that lets you embed Google Documents (including spreadsheets, and presentations) , Google Calendars and Google Sites in a Blackboard course site. Everyone with access to the course can get to linked Google content without logging in a second time. Students and instructors are automatically added as collaborators to the documents, even if they join after the link is made.   Bboogle is also an open source project that you can join. The Century America compilation of websites are a part of the COPLAC digital history project, a collaboration of several colleges in which student researchers have explored their local community's experiences during the Great War. Spearheaded by Dr. Bill Spellman, and under the direct leadership of Dr. Ellen Holmes Pearson from the University of North Carolina Asheville and Dr. Jeffrey McClurken from the University of Mary Washington, the project combines digital technologies, distance mentoring, and undergraduate research. The UNC Asheville website explores parts of Western North Carolina, with particular emphasis on the college's home city of Asheville, during the Great War.

It started with an announcement in February that a University of Georgia instructor would start a crowdsourcing project to find out more about working conditions and salaries of adjuncts. Last month, a graduate student at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro announced that she was attempting something similar for graduate student employees. Both projects are attempts at gathering information -- on the salaries of adjuncts and graduate students -- where rigorously researched data is difficult to come by. The instructional design staff supporting faculty developing online courses historically focused primarily on faculty receiving a course release for one semester for which their department was compensated under an award from the Provost's office. The goal was to complete development within this one semester. Unfortunately, that was a rare occurrence. As a result, many course development projects lingered, funds were encumbered, and online courses were taught without being completely developed and reviewed for quality assurance. In the Spring of 2013, the approach changed. we invited faculty receiving awards to join a community focusing on the practice of developing high-quality online courses. We adopted a cohort approach to project-based professional development in the form of an online course.

Here's a valuable set of resources for Health Sciences education: "60 public access virtual patient cases released under a Creative Commons licence for open use and reuse. Cases were created working with subject experts in workshops across the province. Using the open-source OpenLabyrinth platform the PINE project has a research and development theme investigating common simulation, gaming and narrative patterns in educational case design. This is facilitated by the use of the Vue topic mapping toolset that allows authors to create visual representations of activities and decision making processes."

An iPhone app conceived by two students at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, built as a computer science class project, and purchased by the school's IT organization has made its public debut in the Apple iTunes store. Formerly named iWolverine, now called "University of Michigan," the app allows users to track buses in real time through the popular Magic Bus Web application, listen to the school's fight song, check dining hall menus, and search for buildings, among other features.
