This was an absolutely incredible experience. Watching the trailer opened my eyes to how a fire could affect a family and the emotions from the film really hit me hard especially when they were searching through the rubble trying to find things to salvage and the look on their faces. I found it interesting that she was finding herself and creativeness through the shadow boxes after the fire "freed" her from the duties of being domestic wife. It also illustrates the struggles a family if one wants to have a creative, art filled life and still lead a traditional family life. I cannot wait to watch the entire movie when it comes out. For me the film raises the questions: do we really need a traditional family in this day and age to feel complete and how does our relationships affect the "true" you?

Annual Outdoor Quilt Show and Benefit for Strengthening Rural Families in Benton County - Live music, 80-110 quilts shown at Sweet Earth Vineyard in Monroe, Oregon (off hwy 99 halfway between U of O and OSU) Labor Day Weekend

I had no idea that there were events such as quilt showings! It really heightens my attention because I would love to go to an event such as this. It really reminds me that quilts really are pieces of arts. Not only in the way they are made but how they are displayed as well. It looked absolutely gorgeous looking at the pictures of the quilts hanging in the vineyard. This post and event really touches me personally because my grandmother loved to quilt and maybe I could be able to show one of her quilts one day adding my families culture and traditions to the world.

This is my absolute favorite place to spend time during the summer months! The Cuthbert has never disappointed me in terms of quality live music. The concerts are always reasonably priced and are decently regulated for the most part so families can attend. The atmosphere is unlike any other venue in Oregon and I highly recommend making a concert part of your summer agenda if you are living in Eugene this summer. Wildflower & Music Festival is located at Mount Pisgah,Eugene, Oregon. The festival is loaded with fun things to do for everyone in the family. There is three to four hundred species of wildflowers on display as well there is music, food, crafts, and microscopes.

The Science Factory Children's Museum & Exploration Dome is a member of the Association of Science and Technology Centers and the Northwest Association of Youth Museums. The museum is 10,000 square feet including the planetarium, classroom, computer laboratory, exhibit hall and meeting space. Situated in Alton Baker Park on over 4.35 acres of property, the Science Factory affords a wonderful opportunity for combining outdoor environs to its overall visit experience.

I always liked to visit science museums and exhibitions since I was a kid because there are always a lot of fun science exhibitions combined with arts. I didn't know there was such museum near UofO and I think science museum for children is a great place for families to visit on weekends. Seemed like they have some classes and camps occasionally, and I would wanted to participate in one of those events if I were still a kid. I hope many children will have a chance to visit such science museum and have many impacts on science/art and learn a lot of stuff there.
