This article talks about the importance of spending less than you earn. Many of Americans have troubles managing their accounts and using debit and credit cards. The article stresses the importance of employers helping to educated their employees to help them make sound financial decisions.

Web. 22 November 2010. http://elderlycomputer.com/index.html I found this website rather interesting because of the software involved. This website talks about making a software specifically for the elderly to make it easier for them to use. It also has some articles written talking about why the elderly may have some trouble using and learning about computers. I found it so interesting because it proves a point that people are thinking about this topic. It is a big deal if there is software that is being developed specifically for the purpose to help the elderly.

Pař, et al. "Interaction between physical activity and nutrition early in life and their impact on later development." Nutrition Research Reviews 11.1 (1998), 71-90. Having good nutrition and physical activity early in life can benefit you later in life by influencing this like your metabolism. This starts prenatally, within the mother, all the way through your childhood years. They tested on animals and found that rats with a higher level of protein and did more physical activity, such as running, had more energy and grew to be leaner and healthier.

This addresses the questions that are often posed to the Deaf community. It refences the Deaf as disabled, which is very taboo to the deaf. There is an overview of hearing imparement and what it entails. It also details the different ways to compensate if the company does have a Deaf or hard of hearing employee.

Schneider, Joan. "Besides Google: Guiding Gifted Elementary Students onto the Entrance Ramp of the Information Superhighway." Gifted Child Today 32.1 (2009): 27-31. ERIC. EBSCO. Web. 22 Nov. 2010. In this, Schneider explores how the internet is affecting gifted students in how they find resources that their libraries just can't possibly contain. Within the last decade the internet has become a major tool and curriculum are being changed to go along with it. The ones that are excelling are the students that can process large amounts of information quickly and relatively accurately.

Price, Tom. "Journalism Standards in the Internet Age." 2010. CQ Researcher. Vol 20. pg 821-844. Web. 21 Nov 2010. In the article, Price goes over how journalism has changed through the years and more recently with the internet. He gives standards that have been aimed for throughout its history and then clearly gives the differences between news and opinion. With the use of "news-like" websites, this seperation and standards are not always used and seen. With the pressure of the internet and the shrinking news staff, serious journalist wonder what will survive and rise up in the next few decades.

The article talks about how the students' research behavior affect the tradtional method of library research in first-year writing courses and then gives an alternate method using libbraries and internet search tools. They details the obligation that educators place on students to use the tools to find relevant information. They present a human-computer interaction study that offers a possible explanation as to the interaction of the students and their non-academic information searches.

Gaad, Eman. "The social and educational impacts of the first national Down Syndrome support group in the UAE." Journal of Research in Special Educational Needs 6.3 (2006), 134-142. This is an article about a study done on UAE's first Down syndrome support group. The goal of the group was to correct peoples thoughts on persons with Down syndrome. They found that the group was very beneficial, especially for children. People gained knowledge on Down syndrome and those with Down syndrom built their social skills. It also helped to promote acceptance.

Web. 31 Oct. 2010. This source talks about how to identify someone with a learning disability. It tells the impact of having a learning disability. It gives a developmental view of adults with learning disabilities, and tells how to intervene with different accommodations for them. The author also explains the difficulty in identifying a learning disability in those who are just learning the english language.

This article is about how technology is changing the way classrooms operate and it is affecting the students and teachers. It goes into what educational technology is and what it is doing.

Larson, Natasja, Jim Parsons, and Laura Servage. "The Google-ization of Knowledge." Online Submission (2007): ERIC. EBSCO. Web. 20 Nov. 2010. The article looks at how Google has changed how knowledge is used, accessed, and the impact it has on those that seek and create it. They suggest that Google is reshaping, how knowledge counts as important, helps business, education, among other things. The authors suggest that the way we access information and how it is presented to us changes how we view knowledge and its creditability.

It found that a basic science literacy is neccesarry to know the news of the academic world. Terms and theories, laws, etc were requires in order to fully understand. It found that students are not engaged in science in the news and there is a need for explicit teaching of this information

The article is about the role change libraries have faced going from a place where many get information to what it is now. This change has partially been brought on by computers, which libraries use to deliver its information. Some who prefer how it was claim that it is incovienitent while the library professionals foresee a hybrid that will bring in components of traditional print media and electronic media.

This article discusses the differences in English education. It explains that the 21 century has changed literacy tremendously. In order to be prepared for this change, English need to prepare students for that change. It is also important that the teachers be prepared as well. Within this article, there are three "dimensions" that are discussed. Each of these is seen as a way to help students through the challenges that come with the change of the 21 century. All in all, this article is used to inform readers of the changes within English literacy.

This source provides explanations for why there are differences in literacy for genders. It gives five 5 reasons as to why these differences occur. These reasons are the following: evaluative bias, home socialization, role and societal expectations, male psychology, and equity policy. These five reasons explain why males begin ahead of females, but by the time school ended the gaps closed and women out performed males.

It talks about the different learning behaviors relating to male and females. It states that men enroll in school in order to achieve something, while women enrol for the sake of desire for learning. Men are said to pick up at task and master it until picking up a new one while women work with more than one task at the same time. Men and women have different learning, writing, and reading techniques from one another.\n\n

This article is also a research article about adult literacy. It touches base on gender roles as it applies to literacy. It establishes that the lack of focus on gender roles and literacy effects the success in that area of knowledge. It states that the development between women and men is different pertaining to literacy, menaing it is an unequal development. Lack of attention on this issue and resistence to accept this social role causes problems when learning about writing.

This article discribes the transition from high school to college. More specifically it discusses the transition for the women. There was a study that followed women in theirlast months of high school into their first few months of college. This study recorded the effects and emotions of the women as they readjusted to the college life.\n
