Texas Tech is one of many schools that have a class like this one. The class in itself teaches students proper spending techniques. The purpose of the class is to teach students how to budget money, save when the time is right, and to buy only things or items that they can afford.

Instead of looking at what the athlete knows, the study examined what athletes failed to know. By recognizing what the athletes at what the athletes do not know nutritional professionals can address the athletes on those topics. They conducted their research by giving Iranian college baseball and football players a 2-part questionnaire on sports nutrition knowledge. The results of the study showed that athletes knew little about nutrition knowledge. The researchers believe that their inadequate knowledge may contribute to poor diet. Overall, this study showed that athletes did not have a well understanding of nutrition.

As the description implies, this might be an easy introduction to a rather complex topic. Wolf, a professor of child development at Tufts University, integrates psychology and archaeology, linguistics and education, history and neuroscience in a truly path-breaking look at the development of the reading brain-a complicated phenomenon that Wolf seeks to chronicle from both the early history of humanity and the early stages of an individual's development ("unlike its component parts such as vision and speech... reading has no direct genetic program passing it on to future generations"). Along the way, Wolf introduces concepts like "word poverty," the situation in which children, by age five, have heard 32 million less words than their counterparts (with chilling long-term effects), and makes time for amusing and affecting anecdotes, like the only child she knew to fake a reading disorder (attempting to get back into his beloved literacy training program). Though it could probably command a book of its own, the sizable third section of the book covers the complex topic of dyslexia, explaining clearly and expertly "what happens when the brain can't learn to read." One of those rare books that synthesizes cutting edge, interdisciplinary research with the inviting tone of a curious, erudite friend (think Malcolm Gladwell), Wolf's first book for a general audience is an eye-opening winner, and deserves a wide readership. The article dealt with the effects that child sexual abuse had on people later on in their lives, specifically during their college years. Coping strategies were looked at to see if there was a connection between the abuse done and the relationship that the attacker had with the victim. Also, the effects of coping strategies of post-traumatic stress disorder between child sexual abuse victims and non-child sexual abuse victims were observed. After surveys were taken, participants who had been victims of child sexual abuse showed much higher post-traumatic stress scores and lower approach coping strategies. Child sexual abuse is a high-risk experience that can affect the victim's coping strategies and lead to post-traumatic stress. Child sexual abuse survivors are encouraged to go through therapy to help develop usefeul approach strategies.

It was hypothesized that better nutrition and physical activity would be related to healthy environmental perceptions and personal beliefs.Sixty-five percent of American adults are overweight. The greatest increases in overweight and obesity occur in persons between 18-29 years of age.Eating habits are also a problem in both the general population as well as among college students. Only 28% of persons over the age of two are meeting daily recommendations for fruit intake and even fewer 3% are meeting daily recommendations for vegetable intake. College students often exceed the recommended daily limit for saturated fat intake. A study by Racette found that more than half the students in their sample reported eating high-fat fried or fast foods at least three times per week.

According to the media the ideal female body is thin, tan, tall, and completely flawless. That is what the magazines and the movies have taught us to believe and that is what most women have been made to think. However, the research in this article shows that women are more critical OF these images than previously thought. It shows that women do not accept these images as what to strive for and they realize that they are unattainable and fake.

The freshman weight gain phenomenon revisited - 1 views

    Earlier studies associated the first year of college with a dramatic increase in body weight, termed the "freshman 15". However, recent studies showed that weight gain might be smaller. The purpose of this review was to evaluate the extent of observed weight/body composition changes, including factors associated with them, among students entering university. Searches were conducted for studies examining weight/body composition changes during freshman semesters. Most studies were not comprehensive in assessing numerous potential causative factors for weight gain. Methods for assessing diet, physical activity, and behavioral factors varied among studies. Weight changes were often not quantified by measures of body composition (lean/fat) to ascertain that changes were limited just to gains in fat mass. Overall, weight changes ranged from 0.7-3.1 kg, but among individuals who gained weight, the range was narrower, 3.1-3.4 kg. There may be specific groups of students with a greater predisposition for weight gain and future research should focus on identifying those groups.

She also goes on to state just what kinds of obstacles people face who do not have the knowledge, or are not well educated on Financial Literacy. She even makes a statement that it is her belief that the US has problems with welfare because of lack of finance knowledge, especially when it comes to spending. The information will serve great purpose for my introduction and conclusion as well as backup for my main paragraphs.

    As the use of instant messaging and text messaging has increased, so has the use of abbreviated language in formal writings. Teachers have become increasingly astonished at the abbreviations and spelling errors that have found in students' academic writings. Some of the students even admit to not even noticing the use of this language in their papers. They use it so frequently that they do not notice it as being out of place. Some teachers find this appalling and some find it as a way to spark students' creativity.
