    "There is also a lot to like about iOS. It's a lean, mean operating system. It's use of sandboxing keeps it relatively clutter free. iOS doesn't do a lot, but it's pretty good at what it does do. That said, deploying iPads at any kind of scale is just short of maddening. While the process of tapping around to install one app on one iPad isn't too bad, installing a dozen apps on hundreds iPads isn't a particularly appealing way to spend a month. If you are going to deploy iPads at scale, you need a strategy. You need a battle plan. In addition, you will also need to stay hydrated. I don't think I've discovered the silver bullet, but I'll share some of my experiences with you in order to, hopefully, shorten the learning curve."

    "In a way, the current education system is already set up like a game-just not a very well designed one. Students earn points (grades), gain levels (grades), and in a way, have leaderboards. There are class valedictorians and students are essentially ranked based on their grades when colleges are deciding who to accept. Currently, the typical grading system in schools has students starting off with a 100 average, which slowly (or quickly, depending on the student's performance) gets lower and lower as the student receives anything less than a 100 on any assignments, tests, etc."

  • Broadly speaking, it refers to a push for schools to teach ­­­critical-thinking, analytical, and technology skills, in addition to the “soft skills” of creativity, collaboration, and communication that some experts argue will be in high demand as the world increasingly shifts to a global, entrepreneurial, and service-based workplace.
  • But now a group of researchers, historians, and policymakers from across the political spectrum are raising a red flag about the agenda as embodied by the Tucson, Ariz.-based Partnership for 21st Century Skills, or P21, the leading advocacy group for 21st-century skills. Array of Skills In the Partnership for 21st Century Skills’ vision for K-12 education, the arches of the rainbow depict outcomes, while the pools represent the resources needed to support those outcomes. But critics contend that states implementing this vision might focus too heavily on discrete skills instruction, at the expense of core content. Once your Diigo Educator application is approved, your account will be upgraded to have these additional features: You can create student accounts for an entire class with just a few clicks (and student email addresses are optional for account creation) Students of the same class are automatically set up as a Diigo group so they can start using all the benefits that a Diigo group provides, such as group bookmarks and annotations, and group forums. Privacy settings of student accounts are pre-set so that only teachers and classmates can communicate with them. Ads presented to student account users are limited to education-related sponsors.

  • Technology is advancing at an accelerating rate. Schools are providing teens with a traditional education, but they are unable to keep up with this evolution. Limited individual computer accessibility, minimal hands-on training for teachers, and insufficient technical support are all obstacles many schools face. While the availability of curriculum continues to grow, the lack of time and skills required to select, integrate, and teach with technology continues to be a barrier. In addition, funding to provide updated computers, ongoing maintenance, training and support will always be a challenge. The result is an inability for schools to provide the time, space, or platform for teens to fully utilize technology, either individually or in groups. This lack of integration prevents teens from gaining skills and extending their abilities with technology. Therefore, teens miss the opportunity to find their passion with, or through the use of technology, including the chance to interact with others.
