Free Word works at the meeting point of literature, literacy and free expression as a catalyst for collaborations, nationally and internationally, that explore the transformative power of the word. At London hub the Free Word Centre, runs a programme of events and exhibitions, and provide a home to seven resident organisations and over 25 associates, working across literature, literacy and free expression.

Dal primo al tre dicembre 2011, circa 70 organizzazioni attive nel settore della traduzione letteraria, provenienti da 34 paesi europei, si sono riunite a Bruxelles per il primo convegno PETRA. Queste organizzazioni hanno condiviso una riflessione sulla situazione della traduzione letteraria in Europa e si sono confrontate sulla prospettiva di sviluppare un piano d'azione europeo. STRADE, partner ufficiale di PETRA per l'Italia, ha curato la versione italiana degli atti del convegno "Verso nuove condizioni a favore della traduzione letteraria in Europa. Le raccomandazioni PETRA".

BDPI (Biblioteca Digital del Patrimonio Iberoamericano) is a project of the Asociación de Bibliotecas Nacionales de Iberoamérica (ABINIA). Its objective is the creation of a portal which provides access, from a single search point, to the digital resources of all the participating libraries. With this portal, ABINIA aims at disseminating the bibliographic heritage of each and every library involved in the project, enabling the largest possible number of citizens to approach their collections. At the same time, BDPI is meant to become an example of international cooperation amongst Latin American countries.This portal should also encourage all library members of ABINIA to give a firm impulse to the digitization of their collections, as well as to automation and normalization of their catalogues - adapting them to international standards for description and interchange and thus allowing interoperability, required for the development of the project.Design and creation of the portal has so far been undertaken by the National Library of Spain (BNE), who has carried out the current portal development, always keeping ABINIA informed of every step followed.

EBSCO Publishing, in cooperation with the John Carter Brown Library, has created this resource from "European Americana: A Chronological Guide to Works Printed In Europe Relating to The Americas, 1493-1750," the authoritative bibliography that is well-known and respected by scholars worldwide. The database contains more than 32,000 entries and is a comprehensive guide to printed records about the Americas written in Europe before 1750. Accessible via EBSCO free resources.
