  • In doing a little research, I came across a book by Terry Anderson called, "Theory and Practice in Online Learning." He has some suggestions for giving students an outline, or what he calls an information map, at the beginning of a lesson or module. He talks about the importance of how content is presented initially, and how that affects memory.

    This is a very robust tool, when it works. Early versions were not capable of handling too many people and the group function broke down. However subsequent communication with the authors of this software revealed they had invested quite a bit of effort in the new beta to overcome some of the early issues. I want to test this for my class.

      I am impressed by the constructivist community realizing what a powerful study this is. I think this is an indication of what we will start to see as brain based learning studies increasingly show us what is happening biologically when we learn.
