I seem to be unable to search for my bookmarks by highlights or by comments. I have a bookmark from a week or so back that I looked at the words I had highlighted, did an advanced earch and it returned no results.
Is this an issue on Diigo? Is this an issue with my account? Help me out.
That search does not work for me either. I know the information is there. I even use advanced search for just comments. Nothing. I can copy a word from a highlight, paste it into the highlight box in advanced search, and it finds nothing. These highlights have been in the system for more than a week, so they should be indexed.
Cool. I was having other issues with my account, so I switched over to a new one, but this issue was still persisting. I am VERY glad you foun the issue and will be able to fix it.
Thanks. I just tried a couple of highlight searches and they still returned no results. In each case i copied and word from an existing highlight and pasted it into the advanced find highlight box. No results each time. It does seem to find the sites if I just do a normal search everywhere.
Maybe you searched comments or descriptions. For example, http://www.diigo.com/user/Sbrady?tab=9 when you expand this bookmark "Enterprise 2.0 Blog » Blog Archive » Social Media vs. Knowledge Management: A Generational War", you will find several areas: Title, tag, descriptions, site, comment, highlight.
Could you try to search highlight only now? We still have some problems in searching comment and will fix it soon.
I have the Wikipedia article for Network Effect bookmarked. I have the words Network Effect highlighted in the article. But if I search for the highlight on that (h:(network effect)) it finds nothing. This is the case with every thing I have tried. I go to my main bookmarks page, expand out the annotations, find a highlight, copy some text, and try the search,
Searching on a word from this bookmark does work. So perhaps some of my highlights are not indexed? I am searching on things that were bookmarked a couple weeks back.

Reviewing this topic following the major upgrade from Diigo 3 beta to 4.0 beta: I understand that within groups, search is less advanced than in my library. Not expecting to find text within a group comment using that syntax.
Sean and all, shall we add a 'resolved' tag to this topic?

In a private group where I have highlighted a page,
http://groups.diigo.com/search?group_name=centrim&what=h%3A(management+association)
_does_ work as expected:
- matches only the one bookmark in which that expression is highlighted
(Without the h: prefix to the search expression, the results are broader.)
Thanks.

Yes, I might have expected
http://groups.diigo.com/search?group_name=collaboration&what=c%3A(knowledge+puzzle)
to find the expression
knowledge puzzle
within the April 2008 comment from Joan Vinall-Cox at
http://www.diigo.com/annotated/8694ea219110af74bae65255bda5f499
(Am I guessing the search syntax correctly? I couldn't easily find a syntax at http://help.diigo.com/ .)
I didn't realise advanced search features such as this before now; thanks, Sean!
I understand that advanced search (e.g. of comments) is possible in my library but not in groups.
Sean and all, shall we add a 'resolved' tag to this topic?

with the word VirusBarrier in the title, and
with the word family amongst the annotations.
