I've been messing around with the cache function and noticed that while diigo DOES cache pages, it does NOT show the annotations and comments. It basically treats the cached page as a 'new' page.
Obviously, this defeats half the reason for having a cached version of a page. Is there any way that this can be fixed? I can't imagine it being too difficult, as the page is essentially identical, barring the URL...
Yes, I'm interested in such a feature as well. What I'd like is any way to share a page + all my annotations (highlighted sections) with someone else who does not use Diigo. There is a website called Sharedcopy which has a similar function, you can see an example of how it works here: http://www.okfn.org.sharedcopy.com/wiki/f7e42dec6c6fc9217aa525868d9e18a9.html#shcp0 However the interface and other features are not as robust as Diigo, so it would be great to find a way to do this using Diigo.
I agree that the way Shared Copy annotates the copied version of the page i s very nice. One nice thing about it is that they seem to be able to annotate pages that Diigo cannot. Some secured pages don't get captured and annotated by Diigo (I guess because the Diigo page grabber does not have access), but SharedCopy seems to work ok with the same sites. Maybe it pulls the page from the machines cache or something...not sure.
I would add a vote for annotated cached copies as well.

I'm confused. Doesn't Diigo already do this?
From your bookmarks page, you click on "Share" and then "Get Annotated Link…"
I'm new here, though; so maybe I'm missing something…
— if you scroll down carefully within the lower part of the window, to beyond the Comments tab, to beyond the orphaned sticky notes, public page comments are revealed.

However, this doesn't necessarily mean that the page itself is stored on the diigo server. Does anyone know whether this is the case?
I'd test it myself by uploading a file, annotating it, then deleting it, but I don't have the time to test right now.
Does anyone maybe have dead link in his list that he could try this on?

Say hello to Diigo meta!
http://www.diigo.com/bookmark/http%3A%2F%2Fwiki.okfn.org%2Fopentextbooks?uname=grahamperrin&tab=comment presents a personal meta view of a cached copy of the page that's given in the SharedCopy example, with a focus on page comments
— if you scroll down carefully within the lower part of the window, to beyond the Comments tab, to beyond the orphaned sticky notes, public page comments are revealed.
http://www.diigo.com/bookmark/http%3A%2F%2Fblog.diigo.com%2F2009%2F09%2F28%2Fhighlight-annotate-archive-search-share-diigo-the-best-online-research-tool-just-gets-even-better-diigo-v4-is-live-now%2F?gname=Diigo_HQ&tab=people presents a group meta view of a cached copy of Diigo's announcement re: 4.0 beta, with a focus on the people who bookmarked the page
— if you scroll down carefully within the lower part of the window, public bookmarking history is revealed
— with per-user tags and annotations.
Looking ahead:
* Diigo acknowledges that there's room for improvement (and addition) to meta.
For now, focusing on what's presented in the two examples above:
* is Diigo meta developing in a direction that suits your needs?
