    Emergencies happen. Sure. You can't control the accidents on I-5 freeway, or the bus drivers showing up late. But you can definitely be prepared. Commute to the site of your interview before the day of your interview. See how long it takes to get there. On the day of your interview, give yourself enough time to be there early, even IF unexpected circumstances arise. With all that said, if you are still running late, CALL the interviewer! It's common courtesy. And there is almost a zero-percent chance of getting called back if you are late AND don't call to let them know.

I partnered with Dr. Robin Kowalski and Dr. Susan Limber, psychologists at Clemson University who had already conducted a national survey on cyberbullying with students in grades 6 through 8. Thank-yous on paper aren't necessary, but some applicants are writing e-mails that contain shorthand language and decorative symbols, while others are sending hasty and poorly thought-out messages to and from mobile devices. Job hunters are also using social-networking sites like Facebook and MySpace to try to befriend less-than-willing interviewers.

    FACEBOOK, MySpace, YouTube and Wikipedia are considered valuable educational tools by some who embrace the learning potential of the internet; they are also seen as a massive distraction with no academic benefit by others. Research in Nottingham and Notts suggests split opinions over the internet in the classroom. Some 1,500 interviews with teachers, parents and students nationwide showed the 'net was an integral part of children's personal lives, with 57% of 13 to 18-year-olds in Notts using blogs in their spare time and 58% in Nottingham. More than 60% of Nottingham teens use social networking sites. They are a big feature of leisure time - but now the science version of You Tube, developed by academics at The University of Nottingham, has been honoured in the US this week. The showcase of science videos shares the work of engineers and students online. However just a quarter of teachers use social networking tools in the classroom and their teaching, preferring to leave children to investigate outside school.

Olivia's Letters [Lesson Plan on Cyberbullying Awareness/Empathy] - 0 views

    Olivia's Letters is a lesson plan about bullying and cyber bullying that is designed to develop empathy and bystander awareness in children and youth. It was inspired by a cyberbullying incident in Marin County, CA. Two Mill Valley teens empathized with the young girl who had been victimized and took it upon themselves to start an "Olivia's Letters" campaign to boost her spirits. Their actions resulted in over 14,000 letters to Olivia from people across the country and around the world.

  • Now, the most effective bullies of both sexes work in or with groups, sometimes playing the role of what Snyder calls "mastermind meany" and relying on "henchmen" to do the dirty work. Many are less overt than their predecessors a few generations ago. They try to dominate others with gossip and rumor, a rolled eyeball or long stare, a nasty text message or vicious Internet video.
