Workshop materials here were designed to teach school leaders about social networking. Inconvenient Youth, a new non-profit, non-partisan network for and by teens has started recruiting and training young people to fight global warming, according to an Aug. 15 press release. Today the group launched with a three-day workshop on climate change at Stanford University attended by youth from around the world.

We show this excellent video from the MacArthur Foundation at the start of many CTAP workshops to give our audiences a sense of kids and their digital world. It shows how student' worlds are changing because of digital media and includes conversations with kids and teachers. You can download it to your desktop and save it as a Quicktime video.

The MacArthur Foundation is exploring how technology is changing kids and learning. This is a great video to use as an introduction at your next workshop.

These powerful stories teach teens to examine their behavior and encourage them to be proactive in preventing victimization of themselves and others.Teens share their own "Real-Life Stories" about issues affecting them on the Internet such as cyberbullying, online enticement, and giving out too much personal information. At CTAP, we love these videos and frequently feature them in our workshops and trainings "Feathers in the Wind" and "You Can't Take It Back" are two of our favorites. "Amy's Choice" is also a compelling video clip.

Guess-the-google uses images retrieved using Google's image search. Ten questions in a fast-paced game that is a great opening activity for adult workshops or for student whole group participation. There is also a make-your-own-montage version so you could put in images from historical periods etc. Warning: Very Addictive!

Empowering students to prevent violence in schools. We have used this video at many CTAP workshops on cybersafety/cyberbullying and it's very effective.

Do you suffer from Copyright Confusion? This is another great video from the Center for Social Media that describes the new Code of Best Practices in Fair Use for Media Literacy. This is a great video to show at an educator workshop as a segue into the new thinking on Copyright Law and Fair Use. The Fair Use document was developed and funded by a MacArthur Foundation grant after a research study revealed that rigid interpretations of copyright law are actually strangling educational practice rather than enabling it.
