This is a detailed article about lucid dreaming and how fun it is for a person to experience it. Being able to lucid dream is like entering another dimension where weird is normal and life is extraordinary. I've never actually experienced lucid dreaming, but what I do know that Lucid dreaming is one of the funnest experiences a person can enjoy. Some people don't enjoy sleeping because they believe that sleeping is a waste of time. However, if those people actually knew how it felt to be lucid dreaming, wouldn't they have the urge to go to sleep every night? I read this article that the evoke site has provided in the womanswatch feed link they provided with a bunch of other links. This story really stood out for me. A woman is standing up for what she thinks is right despite ridicule and harsh opinions she is getting from her community. She used to practice female mutilation in thinking it was for the practice for her Islamic religion. Its like a female circumcision. "In the Afar region, women have traditionally been subjected to the most severe form of the practice, infibulation, usually between the ages of seven to nine. In some districts it is carried out within the first few days after birth. Infibulation involves the entire removal of the clitoris, the labia minora and labia majora, followed by sealing of the wound, which leaves only a small hole for the passage of urine and menses. Figures show that 63.2 per cent of women in the Afar region have undergone infibulation (some people are now practicing a less extreme form). The practice leaves the girls with severe pain and trauma, shock, haemorrhage, sepsis, urine retention, ulceration of the genital region, and urinary infection, among other complications. Obstruction and tearing during sexual intercourse or childbirth is common." She now stops due to the seriousness that it is very bad for woman to get such treatment and can affect their bodies negatively, along with the main reason it doesn't support her religion.

Im learning more about womens rights right now, and in particular im wondering about this: why do people continue to combat ancient traditions with "new age" materials. It caught my attention because removal of genitals is a tradition, and im curious as to why people are combating that. "A smile formed on Dohra Ali's face when she recalled what her eldest daughter asked her a couple of years ago. "Mother, is there a place in this world where FGM is not practised where I could go to?" At the time, the question came as an affront to Dohra, who was herself one of the women in the community who did the cutting." The quote i chose here is basically saying, Dohra's daughter has inspired her to combat ancient traditions. I think this is a heavy impact because, when a mother sees her daughter scared and worried, that mother would do anything to protect them. It makes me wonder where our society is heading in the future if we continue to abandon ancient traditions

If it can help them with something that delicate, it certainly can improve your handwriting." so technically me practicing pen spinning will help me in college but a thing that stood out to me in the paragraph was that hand to eye reaction games can greatly improve your skill in all the things listed in the paragraph which is great because i play a game called DJ Max which is like DDR for your fingers but much harder so now that i know playing these games can help im going to play a lot more

I'm learning more about Empowering Woman right now, and in particular what I wondering about about is: Why is Human Trafficking so important, and why does it relate to Woman's rights? I was researching this question online, and this new article caught my attention because it relates to my question and human trafficking is commonly found in woman cases. Human trafficking is a nation wide problem that needs to be solved. "We have to act now in raising awareness in the whole of society, we have to act now with the determination to put an end to inhuman practices which turn people into merchandise, because human beings are not and cannot be for sale." The quote I chose here is basically saying the world should be more involved in stopping inhuman actions that affects the people all over the world. I also know why girls are constantly used for human trafficking, they rape and do horrible unorthodox actions to the girls. I think this is disgusting because people are being slaughter for their body parts. It makes me wonder how sick these people are. I don't know how people do that, woman should come together and fight against these horrid actions.

I'm learning about multiple intelligences right now, in particular what I'm wondering about is: Have there been further studies on the subject? I was researching this question online, and this news item caught my attention because the title was blunt, there's no masking the point behind the article. "Last month, however, a group of cognitive scientists released a study concluding that the practice of shaping instruction around learning styles has no demonstrable effect on the individual student's grasp of classroom material." The quote I chose here is basically saying that scientists have disproved the multiple intelligences theory. There is no relation between the way a teacher teaches and how well a student gets the information. I think this is disheartening because I thought it was true, I still hope it is. It makes me wonder if the students I mentioned will have chances to live up to their potential.

I was searching for a poem about "unfaithful Catholics," and found this. It is not a good poem, but it will do for now. Maybe I just don't know what to search for, because my topic is about, "Catholics who don't practice their religion." This poem is about a woman who has made a promise she can't keep to her husband or lover, but finds herself tangled in an affair. She doesn't know what to do.

Im learning more about FGM/C right now, and in particular im wondering about is: why do women think it is OK to prefrom FGM/C. I was researching this question online, and this article showed up. "FGM/C is mainly performed on children and adolescents between four and 14 years of age. In some countries such as Ethiopia however, more than half of FGM/C is performed on infants under one year old." The purpose of this quote is to inform people on the ongoing events involving FGM/C. In particular, FGM/C on children and adolesense. I think this is very important to know about because in most societies, sexual is over looked, and given to practically anyone. However, in most places around the world, sexual activites are extremely important learn about.

At the same time, game cultures promote various types of information literacy, develop information seeking habits and production practices (like writing), and require good, old-fashioned research skills, albeit using a wide spectrum of content. In short, librarians can't afford to ignore gamers."

I am learning more about Skinner's ideas on freewill, which were the inspirations for my research. In this blog, I found a very interesting quote that is supposed to summarize Skinner's ideas. Although, I do not believe Skinner's ideas were so simple as to be summarized in one sentence, this quote does make an interesting observation from Skinner: "With every lawful relationship I can prove in animal or human behavior, I am showing that the behavior of living organisms obeys laws just as other disciplines in science describes their subjects in a lawful way." This quote is practically saying that people's behavior or actions are not decided by the decision of that individual but rather are made to "obey laws" which are set by mature. This statement does point to his observation that freewill is an allusion.

This is a great piece to listen/watch to. I love the advice the Filmmakers give. I've been researching a lot on my topic and I came across a blog that I found very interesting. It was hosting a youtube video of various film directors giving their advice to future film makers, people such as Quentin Tarantino and Sam Raimi are among the several successful filmmakers that give their input. What I liked the most about this is that each director gave different pieces of advice and covered different areas of practice.

This is a great blog. It helps give advice to the artists of the world to do what they do best and when stuck due to either writer's block, filming block, or what ever type of creativity block this helps give tips to get past it.

I'm learning more about college basketball, and how and when it was created. What i am really interested in knowing more about is, what made James Naismith (the founder of the game) come up with such an idea? What made him decide one day to take a basket and throw something inside of it and make it a big sport. I decided to research my questions online and this one article in the NY Times caught my attention because it explained why he created the game. I chose the article i did because, what better way to find out more about the game then finding out more about the person that started it. "James Naismith and his wife, Maude, practicing basketball, a game he invented in 1891 as a way to keep rowdy students busy during winter." The quote i chose above basically is explaining James Naismith's reason for creating the sport and who he created it for. He wanted to get the kids that had nothing to do and were going down bad roads to discover the game and get interested in it. Over a winter break or a vacation instead of doing something destructive, they could go and play this sport. I think this is perfect because the game was invented in 1891 and still exists in 2009. It is my favorite sport and has changed a lot over time. It went from using an actual peach basket with no hole in the bottom to having metal rims with nets. The game has evolved into something great and with never go away.
