Penzu Online Journal - 1 views

I posted this site for everyone who would like to keep a private Journal - electronically! The site gives you a realistic, "leather bound" journal with lined paper in it which you can use for notes, thoughts, feelings, lists, story ideas or anything else that you would like to write about. You can keep it private or you can share it if you wish. It's saved in the "Cloud" so wherever you are, there it is! It's free for a good basic version and $19 per year for the full blown "Pro" version with all the bells and whistles. Enjoy!

Fiona, this site is awesome! I have already started my own journal and am considering going pro. Thanks for finding and sharing this site.

A message to the youth in radio . . . wherever they are - 1 views

Are messages like this an alarm because there are so many fewer young people entering radio because of the lack of entry level positions? http://www.audiographics.com/agd/042612-1.htm

After reflecting on this article, I wonder what it would have been like if two legendary stations of my youth had merged. How would that have changed the lsitenership and the market itself??? Weird!

"If you're interested in working in the media, doing an internship while you're in college is an absolute must. You can likely get academic credit for it. You may even get paid for it. Most importantly, you will gain valuable hands-on experience that will impress prospective employers and give you an edge over other applicants when you're applying for your first job."[Cubreporters.org/internships.html]

LiveJournal: Discover global communities of friends who share your unique passions and ... - 0 views

The best way to enhance your writing is by practice, practice and more practice. Blogs follow a theme usually and journals are ways to put our random thoughts on paper (or in text). Having an online journal with personalized security settings allows us to write whatever our hearts desire without worrying about what our audience might think. I found this site a great blend of personalized journaling and social networking. Below is their description of the site: LiveJournal is a vibrant global social media platform where users share common passions and interests. With hundreds of communities built around popular interests, like entertainment, celebrity gossip, music, food, travel, fashion, parenting, pets, and more, LiveJournal users express themselves through creative journaling and lively commentary.

This post is for the person, like me who has used the same program (Word) for years and is looking to expand their horizons! OpenOffice.org 3 is the leading open-source office software suite for word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, graphics, databases and more. It is available in many languages and works on all common computers. It stores all your data in an international open standard format and can also read and write files from other common office software packages.

I am using this in place of the power point template that Sherri posted for one of our final projects. It is a greaat place. Easy to use, lots of choices. I have an old computer and don't have power point so this was a great option.

AP Stylebook Online [2012] - 1 views

If you're writing for a newspaper, the majority of them are fussy about following the AP stylebook. It makes sense from their perspective. They have a deadline and don't want to worry about details. Like this example from my hardcopy version of The AP Stylebook "Initials … T.S. Eliot (No space between T. and S. to prevent them from being placed on two lines of type." (P 363) I bet the online version is easier to search and the auto updates would be nice.
