I posted this site for everyone who would like to keep a private Journal - electronically! The site gives you a realistic, "leather bound" journal with lined paper in it which you can use for notes, thoughts, feelings, lists, story ideas or anything else that you would like to write about. You can keep it private or you can share it if you wish. It's saved in the "Cloud" so wherever you are, there it is! It's free for a good basic version and $19 per year for the full blown "Pro" version with all the bells and whistles. Enjoy!

Fiona, this site is awesome! I have already started my own journal and am considering going pro. Thanks for finding and sharing this site.

After reflecting on this article, I wonder what it would have been like if two legendary stations of my youth had merged. How would that have changed the lsitenership and the market itself??? Weird!

Ethics of social media for journalists | Save the Media - 0 views

"A friend, Glenn Coin, has asked me to guest lecture about the ethics of social media for his Utica College journalism class, so I figured I'd blog my lesson plan to save time - and spread the message." [Gina Masullo Chen, a 20-year veteran newspaper journalist who is a Ph.D. candidate in mass communications]

Often I find myself questioning why journalist choose to write articles knowing that the information will bring harm to those currently in the military. My belief on this vacillates with each story.

This is the most comprehensive travel writing program I have found online. It's very affordable ($350) for a 12 week intensive course with a great community of fellow students and alumni. I plan to complete this program very soon. They also have travel photography and travel film making courses.

I am using this in place of the power point template that Sherri posted for one of our final projects. It is a greaat place. Easy to use, lots of choices. I have an old computer and don't have power point so this was a great option.

This site was one that I found by accident and it looks very interesting. It is a tool for visually mapping out projects and ideas as well as a collaboration tool (it integrates with Google docs). I haven't used it yet, but the video overview looks fantastic - check out the video! Create, share and collaboratively work on mind maps with MindMeister, the leading online mind mapping tool.

vRecorder - 0 views

The vRecorder reminded me of all the movies wherein someone had a secret recording device in their pocket to frame the bad guy. This is a tool I imagined existed, but now seeing it in action, its usefullness to the journalist (specifically taping phone interviews and framing bad guys) is limitless.

Embracing social media for radio stations - 1 views

This was a crucial idea as social media was developing when I was in radio years ago. I'd say it's even more crucial now to stay connected to listeners as audiences shrink and splinter!
