This site was created by midwives with a focus on serving gender non-conforming and LGBTI communities.

SmartMat - the interactive yoga mat - 0 views

  •
Okay, while I find this mat slightly professionally intimidating, the idea is a good one. While still in pre-production, the makers of the SmartMat raised over $300K in their initial crowdsourcing - overshooting their goal of $110,000. The mat has sensors and connects to your smartphone, giving you individual feedback about alignment. I don't think it will replace highly trained, professional yoga teachers, but it's a great idea.

The Insight Timer app is available in the iTunes and Google app stores. This app isn't just a timer - you can join in with other meditators in real time, all around the world. There are guided meditations and several different bells, chimes, and gongs you can preprogram to signal the beginning, middle, or end of your meditation. There are several languages for the guided meditations, some have music soundtracks, and there are over 3,000 to choose from so if one teacher or method doesn't resonate, another might. It's a great way to connect with other meditators, try a new style, or just get started with the practice.

Prevention better than cure in Cuban healthcare system - BBC News - 1 views

  •
Great article on how the Cuban population prevents illness so that they don't have to cure it. Healthcare in Cuba is free and even written in their constitution. Each citizen is given an annual health check up and ones who are not as healthy are seen more frequently. They teach their citizens how to be healthy so they don't get health-related diseases. Smart system and I think it should be integrated in other countries as well.

I love this post and thank you. So many to learn from. Cuba has always been on my list to visit!
