There is also information on creative commons and public domain. I could see using the examples provided for small group discussions. I see myself using a lot of the information on copyright as it is easy to read and lays out the format that will be easy for the students to understand. These examples are under a big umbrella of information called "Using Information Correctly." There are 3 big ideas under this which include Avoiding Plagiarism, Putting Info Together and Copyright and Fair Use.

I chose this lesson/activity because the 3rd grade creates biography presentations and since we are now a K-8 school this would be a great idea to get different age groups to work together.

I'm going to be sure to pass this along because I can see this fitting right in with our new reading/writing curriculum.

I love this quick simple idea to get students intrigued and engaged in a lesson. We have had a huge focus on our new literacy and writing curriculum this year and I can see my upper elementary and middle school teachers using this in conjunction with their science and social studies lessons.

This is a tidy little package explaining what Diigo is and how it can be used to further student learning. It looks to be a nice length to be the basis for a 20-30 minutes staff development session -- long enough to have some meat, but short enough not to overwhelm busy teachers.

DIY Education - City X teaches basic 3D modeling, printing & design thinking skills to highlight the importance of creativity in problem solving. Global Connections - City X fosters cultural exchange & awareness by introducing possibilities for global collaboration. Imagination - Given the opportunity to create without limits, what kind of world would kids create? I love this idea to give a purpose to 3D design and printing! I would use it in conjunction with the Design Squad resource below.

This site from NASA and Design Squad offers activities, videos, lesson plans, and guides for engaging kids in hands-on engineering activities. There are several guides for running 6-week or 12-week clubs or after school events. I am always on the lookout for activities that promote design thinking that I can use for a maker event or as a creative warm-up for one of my clubs. Lots of good ideas here!

I did a search in OER Commons and found a blended lesson that could become part of the lesson we are doing for this class. The search options by grade, subjects, and standards are very helpful. I had no idea this existed. It seems very versatile and links well with Google Classroom. It also provides support materials, teaching guides, and a thorough list of standards.
