Khan Academy would be a great resource for teachers and administrators looking for help with RTI needs. There are sections for every content area where students can test their skills via an online assessment. After several questions, content is adjusted to the specific learning level of the individual student.

This is great for auditory and visual learners taking different steps with them. The site begins various practices or content knowledge with an interactive assessment of what you know, what you need review, and what it recommends to build upon the knowledge that the student indicates they have yet to learn or are unfamiliar with. In a sense, it differentiates and it assesses as you interact. Learn for free about math, art, computer programming, economics, physics, chemistry, biology, medicine, finance, history, and more. This lesson could work with the presidential campaign. High school level. Students consider a visual text and draw conclusions based on what they see. They explain their conclusions by explaining the evidence used to make that determination.

Images showing Auschwitz during the Holocaust and again decades after. While teaching a unit on World War II this would help students have a visual of what the Holocaust was like.

Expeditions Pioneer Program - Google - 0 views

Had Google Expeditions as a Beta roll-out this past spring.  According to representative the content will be free to educators in the fall & it was a neat way to either introduce a topic or to compare/contrast after students learned about a topic. EEN students were particularly engaged by the visual content.  Very easy to use, just need donated phones...

my StoryMaker at Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh - 0 views

This story maker would be great to use with elementary students who are learning about how words come together to create sentences and stories. The tool would be an excellent resource for students who struggle with writing and need a visual to help them see the relationship between text and pictures. It works kind of like a game, allowing students to select characters, backgrounds, plots, and items so that they can create their own stories. Students are allowed to see the images they create and, as they create these images, the story maker builds the text to tell the story so that students can see how writing comes together. Students are also given the ability to change the text and incorporate animations. Finally, students are given a code that lets them share the story they created with others.

The Khan Academy has wonderful resources on many topics. The online tutorials are great visual examples of solving various math problems that teachers can utilize in the regular classroom, flipped classroom, tutoring students or online courses. I would also coordinate with the teacher and link these resources to my library websites for students and parents to access. Learn for free about math, art, computer programming, economics, physics, chemistry, biology, medicine, finance, history, and more.
