Nature Publishing Group, publishers of the highly regarded Nature magazine, decided in 2009 to make a sustained effort to overcome questions about the reliability of free materials found on the Internet in life and physical science disciplines.
I can see the science department using this site in the classes they are building in Haiku. We have some teachers who are creating blended learning classes and the resources on this page will be helpful. JD

Using the many resources of Khan Academy in blended learning is a fantastic resource. This specific example is perfect for my library/tech class offered to 4th graders. A perfect introduction to understanding the devices we use.
One of my goals this coming year is to expand the resources I know about for my math / science folks, since that isn't my natural interest or background. This Encyclopedia of Life source is amazing in its information and layout, but it also has a wealth of lesson plans for a variety of ages that tie directly to what our staff is teaching. The lessons are a blend of technology and other activities. A great resource to share with science teachers!
I did a search in OER Commons and found a blended lesson that could become part of the lesson we are doing for this class. The search options by grade, subjects, and standards are very helpful. I had no idea this existed. It seems very versatile and links well with Google Classroom. It also provides support materials, teaching guides, and a thorough list of standards.
This is a fun lesson to be used with second graders. Our students learn about alphabet books in kindergarten, but they come back around in later reading and writing lessons. I like that this lesson offers a blend of reading, writing, and a little bit of tech. Fun!
