People are broken up into groups and their task is to solve puzzles with an end goal to open up a box.

I wanted to find resources for reading as I am apart of the English Department at my school. We are always looking for resources to share with each other in our meetings. I came across this resource and found the grammar section. Many topics are presented such as contradictions, semi colons, sentences, etc... What really caught my eye were the videos towards the bottom of the page. Here they have videos that explain the differences between words that sound the same but have different meanings. They use toys and action sequences to explain which are very funny! Each of the grammar lessons have unique learning techniques, whether users need to select correct choices or simply view pictures that help represent the learning. I could see using or providing the examples given in many lessons.

This source provides information on avoiding plagiarism. Provides definition of plagiarism, example, interactive of basic tips and a quiz. There is also information on creative commons and public domain. I could see using the examples provided for small group discussions. I see myself using a lot of the information on copyright as it is easy to read and lays out the format that will be easy for the students to understand. These examples are under a big umbrella of information called "Using Information Correctly." There are 3 big ideas under this which include Avoiding Plagiarism, Putting Info Together and Copyright and Fair Use.

Had Google Expeditions as a Beta roll-out this past spring.  According to representative the content will be free to educators in the fall & it was a neat way to either introduce a topic or to compare/contrast after students learned about a topic. EEN students were particularly engaged by the visual content.  Very easy to use, just need donated phones...

This would be a great resource for Gr 3-5 when they do research on animals.

Ck-12 offers "FlexBook" textbooks and other OER for teaching Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM). Using the many resources of Khan Academy in blended learning is a fantastic resource. This specific example is perfect for my library/tech class offered to 4th graders. A perfect introduction to understanding the devices we use.

I plan to use these with the High School English Department and also in sections with professional development to set the stage with appropriate copyright usage for the upcoming school year.

Starting this fall, the English 9 teacher and I will be teaming up and using portions of the 9-12 digital citizenship lessons offered in the Scope & Sequence section. Besides what we will be using, Common Sense Education also offers free professional development resources, advice on 1-to-1 programs, teacher reviews of instructional technology, and more.
