This website is a comprehensive set of resources for students K-12, parents and teachers. The topics include online security, digital relationships and cyberbullying, digital footprint, digital citizenship, student data, copyright and maintaining a healthy balance of digital exposure. I found a scope and sequence on the digital citizenship page that could be helpful in designing a digital citizenship teaching structure for your school.

One area for which I'm always searching for more resources and information is resources that can be shared with parents and families to support the digital citizenship learning students are doing in the library. Just because most parents many parents are comfortable with technology, that doesn't 'mean they know how to talk to their children about internet safety and ethics. This includes a good list of resources that are available.

This provides a fantastic list of resources for parents (or teachers) to utilize to support the teaching of digital citizenship skills! I'm always looking for tools to share with our families to help them better understand their role in creating good digital citizens at home.

This lesson can be used to teach elementary students about digital footprint. It has students look at information shared in sample Facebook pages and analyze what kinds of information are and are not okay to share online.

Contained in this source are a variety of tools to use when wanting to implement digital storytelling into your library/classroom. I like the variety. Aside from this source, I have used Mystorymaker with students. I also like the animation factor associated with this source.

Since Educator Effectiveness has hit Wisconsin head on, here are some OER that will help us all. These resources will be especially helpful when planning the staff development which will be required for EE.

Many already working in the library world are familiar with Common Sense Education, but if you are like me and only work at the high school level, you may not have had a chance to fully use this website's valuable resources. Starting this fall, the English 9 teacher and I will be teaming up and using portions of the 9-12 digital citizenship lessons offered in the Scope & Sequence section. Besides what we will be using, Common Sense Education also offers free professional development resources, advice on 1-to-1 programs, teacher reviews of instructional technology, and more. This resource is a must for any educator.

Although the entire site is rich in content and gallery, I find the civil war portion very applicable to being a digital resource at the elementary, middle, and even the high school levels. "Be Internet Awesome is a collaboration between Google and the Internet Keep Safe Coalition (iKeepSafe.org). It is "a multifaceted program designed to teach kids the skills they need to be safe and smart online." The resource includes a game called, Interland, that can be a stand alone tool as well as a full curriculum that enables teachers to teach digital citizenship fundamentals. The lesson plans are geared toward grades 3 to 5." It think this is a great free tool from Google that I had not heard about that allows teachers to gameify Internet Safety and Digital Citizenship. I played the game a bit and I wonder if maybe teachers should take it, as we had a phishing spam a few years ago where teachers gave personal information online to an email that looked like it came from our local credit union.
