I would suggest the use of this OER to 3rd grade teachers. Currently in collaboration with the library, 3rd grade students conduct a research assignment on the animal of their choice. Part of my collaboration effort is to teach the students about the various sources that are out there and how to use their effectively. I think this Encyclopedia would come in handy when students are prepared to collection information on their animal of choice.

The Khan Academy has wonderful resources on many topics. The online tutorials are great visual examples of solving various math problems that teachers can utilize in the regular classroom, flipped classroom, tutoring students or online courses. I would also coordinate with the teacher and link these resources to my library websites for students and parents to access. Learn for free about math, art, computer programming, economics, physics, chemistry, biology, medicine, finance, history, and more. WTAMU Math Tutorials and Help I like how it "showcases exciting" math terms and then how the user can "click on . . . (a term) . . . to Google." At the same time there are Physics forums that can be accessed along with (among other resources) a virtual on-line Math lab ( West Texas A & M University) for GRE Math study sessions, Math for sciences, beginning, intermediate, and college Algebra. A student can go in and seek extra guidance or training (i.e. for a high school class) or it can serve as an extra challenge to tests the student's content knowledge before an exam. This part of the site is geared toward high school students (and college) while the initial page is also appropriate for elementary and middle school students. A great starter to click on a math term that an elementary student may begin to explore. I can see 4-7 grade students really liking this portion to review what they know and experiment with what the are/will be learning.

Abstract: In this eight-week 3-unit module, students explore the experiences of people of Southern Sudan during and after the Second Sudanese Civil War. They build proficiency in using textual evidence to support ideas in their writing, both in shorter responses and in an extended essay.

"Explore collections from around the world" by using Google Arts & Culture. LOTS here, but I capture this for the 10th grade students doing research on Martin Luther King, Jr. A simple search of Martin Luther King, Jr brings up over 400 historical pictures, letters and telegrams as well as audio of MLK's speeches thus providing primary resources for students to delve deeply into history.

TED videos would be a great video source to share with the 2nd grade teachers who teach insects. It has current videos, with fascinating facts and real pictures. The days of the Magic School Bus on VHS need to be transformed to show teachers new sources of videos to show to students, so students can be aware of the current issues with the insect world and learn new facts about insects that they may have never known!

Would be great to share with 2nd grade when doing their butterfly unit and a great resource to show point of view. Students could write AS the egg, etc.. and go through the cycle.

Fourth grade does a wax museum each year. This would be a great early lesson on how to research. Students work together in groups to choose 6-10 facts to add to a timeline. The lesson could be used to teach students about the important information. What information should be shared during the wax museum?

"Be Internet Awesome is a collaboration between Google and the Internet Keep Safe Coalition (iKeepSafe.org). It is "a multifaceted program designed to teach kids the skills they need to be safe and smart online." The resource includes a game called, Interland, that can be a stand alone tool as well as a full curriculum that enables teachers to teach digital citizenship fundamentals. The lesson plans are geared toward grades 3 to 5." It think this is a great free tool from Google that I had not heard about that allows teachers to gameify Internet Safety and Digital Citizenship. I played the game a bit and I wonder if maybe teachers should take it, as we had a phishing spam a few years ago where teachers gave personal information online to an email that looked like it came from our local credit union.
