100 Videos and Counting: Lessons From a Flipped Classroom | Edutopia - 0 views

  •
This article discusses the author's lessons he's learned after creating over 100 flipped classroom lesson videos. He begins by stating not to focus on the video, "Teachers need to think like architects, not video producers." Also, pay attention to data, and he doesn't mean "Views" on YouTube. He incorporated Educanon into the videos to ask questions throughout student viewing.

Biographies: Creating Timelines of a Life | OER Commons - 0 views

  •
Fourth grade does a wax museum each year. This would be a great early lesson on how to research. Students work together in groups to choose 6-10 facts to add to a timeline. The lesson could be used to teach students about the important information. What information should be shared during the wax museum?

Fact Fragment Frenzy | OER Commons - 0 views

I really like that this lesson has K-5 lesson plan options. It is a lesson about how to search non fiction text better for finding information during research lesson. It has a video on how you should be taking notes which is really nice since students usually don't know what they can get rid of in their notes and end up plagiarizing at times

Using #OER for Common Core State Standards | Classroom Aid - 0 views

  •
With CCSS coming down the pike, I think that any source that can help educators integrate these new standards is worth checking out. If I were to introduce this source to educators, I would give it a quick introduction. I think that sources like this deserve time to be picked through. If this was not an option, I would possibly give teachers an already made lesson and ask them to assign CCSS to the lesson. Thoughts?

EOL Learning + Education - 0 views

One of my goals this coming year is to expand the resources I know about for my math / science folks, since that isn't my natural interest or background. This Encyclopedia of Life source is amazing in its information and layout, but it also has a wealth of lesson plans for a variety of ages that tie directly to what our staff is teaching. The lessons are a blend of technology and other activities. A great resource to share with science teachers!

Amelia Bedelia Up Close! Closely Reading a Classic Story - ReadWriteThink - 0 views

  •
This is a great lesson to use with elementary students to analyze text and meet Common Core standards. I liked that this lesson also uses Amelia Bedelia because you can then also discuss language and meaning and how her chores are always funny since she is literally doing what she hears.
