Khan Academy would be a great resource for teachers and administrators looking for help with RTI needs. There are sections for every content area where students can test their skills via an online assessment. After several questions, content is adjusted to the specific learning level of the individual student.

This is great for auditory and visual learners taking different steps with them. The site begins various practices or content knowledge with an interactive assessment of what you know, what you need review, and what it recommends to build upon the knowledge that the student indicates they have yet to learn or are unfamiliar with. In a sense, it differentiates and it assesses as you interact. Learn for free about math, art, computer programming, economics, physics, chemistry, biology, medicine, finance, history, and more. Does the Khan Academy know how to teach? - 0 views

Here is a new critique of the Khan Academy, read about the hype and reality of the academy, and read a post from the founder of the Khan Academy, Sal Khan. I guess there are always two sides to the coin. I'll have to test it out myself to decide my opinion.

Khan Academy is a great resource that some teachers in our school are already using. I am exploring this course on computer programming as it fits with my research topic of coding and robotics. These can easily be used in the library or a Tech Ninja's class. There are many classes to chose from in Khan Academy.

Using the many resources of Khan Academy in blended learning is a fantastic resource. This specific example is perfect for my library/tech class offered to 4th graders. A perfect introduction to understanding the devices we use.

I think I would start here instead of Khan Academy because this resource includes Khan Academy along with 7 other collections that focus on math.

Khan Academy: 7th Grade Math - 0 views

The Khan Academy has wonderful resources on many topics. The online tutorials are great visual examples of solving various math problems that teachers can utilize in the regular classroom, flipped classroom, tutoring students or online courses. I would also coordinate with the teacher and link these resources to my library websites for students and parents to access. Learn for free about math, art, computer programming, economics, physics, chemistry, biology, medicine, finance, history, and more. Khan Academy-- Not just for math! Coding too! - 0 views

  •
In researching Khan Academy more in-depth, I've found that there is a section called Hour of Code under the digital resources. I use "Hour of Code" from code.org, but this resource actually takes you through 10-15 steps of the coding process, with short videos to open each section, and then they have the kids complete the task. You can sign up for a free 30 day trial if you don't have a login for Khan. Then you can create a class list, assign students, etc...The content would be ok for 5th grade and up.

I knew we were using this for our math students because I put a link to Khan Academy on my library libguide, but I didn't realize it covered so many subjects. Here's an inspiring video about our ability to learn. Everyone can!

Parts of speech: the verb | Grammar | Arts and humanities |Khan Academy - 1 views

Khan Academy is a resource that can be used to preteach, reteach, and teach students and adults. It spans many subjects areas and topics. In my school our math and ELA teachers use the online lessons for students to practice (and take tests) related to subjects / concepts being taught. It can be used to flip the classroom by assigning lessons for students to view and participate in at home prior to class the next day. As an interventionist, I sometimes use it with my students to pre or reteach content students struggled with in their classes. I included a link to a parts of speech lesson.

Intro to JS: Drawing & Animation | Computer programming | Khan Academy - 0 views

  •
This is an online course that would be excellent to use with our 8th graders who are learning robotics and Scratch right now. Engaging them in several different types of basic coding activities can help show how the elements of computer programming are constant whether they are working in javascript or RobotC or Scratch, though the terminology might vary a little. This can help prepare them for more advanced programming classes in HS.
