This would be a great page for any LMS to have bookmarked as a resource page to recommend Web 2.0 tools to teachers. It is also a great resource to post to a library or district website for students and staff to access. The list is categorized to help find online tools according to the type of need or product for a given unit or lesson.

WTAMU Math Tutorials and Help I like how it "showcases exciting" math terms and then how the user can "click on . . . (a term) . . . to Google." At the same time there are Physics forums that can be accessed along with (among other resources) a virtual on-line Math lab ( West Texas A & M University) for GRE Math study sessions, Math for sciences, beginning, intermediate, and college Algebra. A student can go in and seek extra guidance or training (i.e. for a high school class) or it can serve as an extra challenge to tests the student's content knowledge before an exam. This part of the site is geared toward high school students (and college) while the initial page is also appropriate for elementary and middle school students. A great starter to click on a math term that an elementary student may begin to explore. I can see 4-7 grade students really liking this portion to review what they know and experiment with what the are/will be learning.

This story maker would be great to use with elementary students who are learning about how words come together to create sentences and stories. The tool would be an excellent resource for students who struggle with writing and need a visual to help them see the relationship between text and pictures. It works kind of like a game, allowing students to select characters, backgrounds, plots, and items so that they can create their own stories. Students are allowed to see the images they create and, as they create these images, the story maker builds the text to tell the story so that students can see how writing comes together. Students are also given the ability to change the text and incorporate animations. Finally, students are given a code that lets them share the story they created with others.

I've used this many times in my classroom. The students love it!

Practicaledtech is a great source for teachers to stay up to date on great online resources. Richard Byrne is an awesome tech integrator and his site used to be called free tech for teachers. I would assign teachers to use this guide to pick one blogging tool to try out with their classes. Before they got to work with their classes I would pair of teachers who chose the same blogging tool and have them work together on the platform.

This source would make a great reference to those looking to introduce the concept of a flipped classroom. I find the concept of a flipped classroom to be perplexing. Personally, I work in a district with a high poverty level. Students don't always have access to the materials needed to implement such a concept. Any resource to help the ground running or help you work out the kinks is worth the time to read it.

This resource is one I would like to share with my teachers because it gives 12 easy to follow ways to build real-world STEAM applications in their classrooms. It supports the design-thinking model that we are trying to grow as a process for reflection in our building, and supports the work we are doing to grow use of our maker program. Great Resource!

This site has a plethora of resources. I would not send this out to staff. Instead I would use this as a resource for me to dig through some great OER sites and then share the best ones for middle school teachers and students. Because the look of this list is not very appealing, I think it would turn many people away. We have many students and teachers looking for audiobooks. This is a great resource. Once again there are tons of math options. I find many math teachers thinking that math is different and that it's harder to incorporate technology into their curriculum. Usually when I show a math teacher just a few options, their eyes open. The list of resources here is awesome. Open.edu is a great resource to help teachers expand their knowledge. I could probably bookmark that resource separately.

That is the trick with sites that have sooo many resources; teachers tend to get overwhelmed and then don't look at any of them! I also try to sort through resources and send them specific sites or links that are focused on what area(s) they have been asking about. I will also be sorting through this site to find some great resources to share!

The 6th graders study social issues and many tend to choose environmental issues. The National Science Foundation OER would provide a source of information for students to narrow their topics during the research process. It provides current, up-to-date articles surrounding issues and discoveries scientists and researchers have recently discovered about various environmental issues of concern. Students are also required to write their opinion about their topic at the end of the research unit. I feel this OER resource would help students gain critical thinking and problem-solving skills they need to write an opinion on an environmental topic.

I really like this site. I collaborate with the 5th grade teacher in my district to teach a similar lesson. This OER resource you found is something I will probably refer to in the future. Thanks!

Google classroom can be a powerful tool for student-centered online learning. Teachers would be asked to use this source to introduce themselves to not only how to use it but how students can benefit from it. I love this source because it seems to be mostly created by high school students. The school that created it is showing how they are going to have students troubleshooting and supporting teachers throughout next years integration of classroom.

I think this is a great resource to offer my teachers so they can offer it to their students. This is a fun and easy way for pre-k and kindergarten students to learn about matching sounds to letters. Teachers will be able to use this activity at one of their learning centers. The interface is very user friendly. The graphics are colorful and engaging to young students.

YouTubers, Authors, Philanthropists - John & Hank Green provide high quality educational videos in a variety of educational content areas. Economics, World History, US History, Literature, Astonomy, Chemistry, Politics & Government, - the list goes on! Very engaging and relvant videos for students. TLB

I think this is a great channel of video resources that my coworkers can use to change it up a little for students. They will find many topics/lessons that they currently teach on this channel. I will encourage them to use them in their classrooms, assign them for homework, assist with studying for a test or any other ways they see fit!

I would use this site to introduce concepts to students. These short videos are great attention getters. For example, I could use the video on Diseases to help students understand how far we have come in medical advances and to assist them in gaining an understanding of how easily diseases are transmitted. These could also be used as a flipped classroom format. Students could watch the content, take notes, and come prepared for the activity the next day.

Had Google Expeditions as a Beta roll-out this past spring.  According to representative the content will be free to educators in the fall & it was a neat way to either introduce a topic or to compare/contrast after students learned about a topic. EEN students were particularly engaged by the visual content.  Very easy to use, just need donated phones...

I was looking through the resources and also stumbled upon this one, since I enjoy music, I decided to include it. Well, that and the fact that one of the last inquiry units I worked on with some elementary students last year focused on the Depression and one group looked at its culture in California with migrant workers, etc. This would have been a great resource for them! The resource comes from the LOC and allows students to explore the culture and ethnicities of folk music during the 30s. There are audio clips to explore, sketches for instrument design and a lot of other cool things here.  I could see students easily using this resource for a history unit or a music class to better understand what life was like during the 30s. In a history class, students might investigate the outlook on life through the lyrics in some of the songs. In a music class, students might trace the development of the music and its instruments. With other resources, students could look at the way the music here has had an influence on what we listen to today. Just some thoughts.

TED videos would be a great video source to share with the 2nd grade teachers who teach insects. It has current videos, with fascinating facts and real pictures. The days of the Magic School Bus on VHS need to be transformed to show teachers new sources of videos to show to students, so students can be aware of the current issues with the insect world and learn new facts about insects that they may have never known!

Fourth grade does a wax museum each year. This would be a great early lesson on how to research. Students work together in groups to choose 6-10 facts to add to a timeline. The lesson could be used to teach students about the important information. What information should be shared during the wax museum?

Although this TAG is a broad choice, I think the it would suit any classroom setting. I think a major draw to this source would be its alignment to the common core. I would introduce this source to teachers in a professional development setting, as well as refer to it in my own collaborative teaching efforts. (Now I just need to remember all my passwords and usernames for these sites.) :)

With CCSS coming down the pike, I think that any source that can help educators integrate these new standards is worth checking out. If I were to introduce this source to educators, I would give it a quick introduction. I think that sources like this deserve time to be picked through. If this was not an option, I would possibly give teachers an already made lesson and ask them to assign CCSS to the lesson. Thoughts?

This little simulation illustrates how atoms act due to friction. The activity is simple, as it tries to show what happens microscopically between a chemistry and a physics textbook when they are rubbed together. When students rub the cutaway atoms together, they are able to see how they start to speed up and the thermometer on the side shows them how the faster they move, the hotter they become. When they let them sit for a while, the thermometer cools down and the atoms slow down. This would be a great way to provide a more concrete depiction of what happens with friction for those students who have a hard time grasping the concept through written description or static images in a textbook or handout.

"Be Internet Awesome is a collaboration between Google and the Internet Keep Safe Coalition (iKeepSafe.org). It is "a multifaceted program designed to teach kids the skills they need to be safe and smart online." The resource includes a game called, Interland, that can be a stand alone tool as well as a full curriculum that enables teachers to teach digital citizenship fundamentals. The lesson plans are geared toward grades 3 to 5." It think this is a great free tool from Google that I had not heard about that allows teachers to gameify Internet Safety and Digital Citizenship. I played the game a bit and I wonder if maybe teachers should take it, as we had a phishing spam a few years ago where teachers gave personal information online to an email that looked like it came from our local credit union.
