LanguageGuide.org is an online language learning resource available in numerous languages ranging from English, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Italian, German, Dutch, Turkish, Arabic, Russian, Mandarin, Japanese, to Korean. This illustrated vocabulary guide contains sound-integrated exercises at three levels -- beginner, intermediate, and advanced, and allows for independent practice at the learner's own pace. These practice exercises are appropriate for elementary and middle school students and this resource would be well suited on a teacher webpage. Thematic topics vary by language but generally include numbers, parts of the body, clothing, food, animals, weather, home, and school. There is an option menu on each screen for listening, speaking, and reading practice, as well as a quiz for students to check their comprehension. Some languages also feature a Grammar and Readings section for more advanced learners.

I like this article's ideas for how to use certain social media tools in the classroom, such as gaggle.net for safe social networking, Twitter for end-of-unit review, etc.

This interactive website is a great classroom tool for authentic, age appropriate readings. It is set up like an average news website, which offers students information on a broad range of topics. In addition, there is a teaching corner that offers free resources and topics for debate!

Create a free account on this French language website so you have access to all the great videos, articles and "dossiers".  For example, there's a one minute animated video that explains why we have the 1 hour time change this weekend.  Great for high school level French students.

Food Lunchbox Project is a collaborative page used by schools and teachers to exchange photos of and comments about typical school lunches. Useful for units on food, health, culture.

20 uses for Wordle in the classroom or out of class. Useful for a variety of purposes and a variety of ages. Wordle also used in a study for analyzing student writing samples, to show overused words and suggest broadening vocabulary.

Cute and creative voice recording program available on iTunes or online. Allows you to edit the sound of a 30 second voice recording by raising pitch of the voice, lowering it, changing accents, etc. Embeddable in your website, creates a URL and can be emailed to teachers, tweet, and more. Fun! Could be used for any voice recording needs, oral assessments, etc. Any age group, any lesson topic.

Comprehensible Input Classroom - blog with links, ideas, activities, curriculum plans, etc. for teacher ideas. Can be used by teacher to add depth and interest to curriculum planning and lesson steps.

Compiliation of cloze transcripts for foreign language commercials. Can be used for lesson plans to enhance listening skills

This flowchart from the iPad4Schools folks shows the flow from teacher to student through applications and websites in a mobile social learning environment.  Even if mobile learning isn't a big part of your School or district's program, you'll appreciate the 21st century nature of this resource.
