An online Web 2.0 tool for creating and sharing student and teacher created books. Great for the world languages classroom.

Ursula - I had Storybird as one of the choices my students could use for creating a children's story. They loved it.

Students are encouraged to write their own lyrics to songs of their choice, translate them into the target language, record them (audio or video), and share with the world.  This is an excellent way of incorporating 21st century skills, ISTEs, ACTFL standards, and more.  This could require collabortion, too.    This project is 'owned' by the students - teachers just guide the process.  Many examples and support available.

The Office of State Assessment for New York provides comprehensive exams for French, German, Hebrew, Italian, Latin, and Spanish. Available are past exams, teacher dictation sheets, and scoring keys including rubrics to assess student performance. Several past exams are provided for free.

ACTFL's Assessment of Performance Towards Proficiency (AAPPL) is an online assessment that incorporates audio & video in "real-life" task situations. Teachers can register their students. Approximate cost is $20 per student. Students receive feedback like which proficiency level they are currently showing and strategies to get to the next level.

A free online tool that students can use to create animated voice presentations for the classroom.

I will have to implement this tool next time when I create comic strips. What a neat idea, interactive, fun and free.

I like this tool, I have seen teachers in my school use a program similar to this one, but for some reason I can't remember the program. These can be fun for the students to use because it is something different than the normal PowerPoint that they complete for assignments.

A great collection of francophone stories from countries like Mali, Senegal, Maroc.  You can download the text and a teacher's guide.  It's also read aloud by a native speaker.  

This site allows students to create their own blogs. (Recommended mainly for high school and college students.)

A great website for advanced learners. Travelling through Germany with an art-expert German learners go through adventures while finding the location of a stolen artifact while learning German. This site is for advanced level learners (A2 and above) - it is fun and interactive. The game may be played on the Web. Apps for smartphones may be downloaded for free.

Especially interesting is the QR game that can be used in schools that allow mobile devices - check this out. Great active game for all subjects

A cute, but effective, video presentation for novice French language learners explaining the difference between when to use "on" and "nous".

This is a nice site for the beginning language learner. The students have the opportunity to explore the states, politics, sports and more. A great component of the site is that the students can read the information and can have the info read to him/her

This is a website provided through Deutsche Welle. Two teams of German learners from all over the world compete with each other. A very fun and interactive learning adventure. It reminds me a little of the Amazing Race. An advantage - everything is free, videos, activities, worksheets.

Highly engaging websites that teacher in form of song and games. Interest especially for middle and high school students.
