  • intensity of expression that gives impressiveness or importance to something
    • Delaney Hensley

intesity is a good word to describe what is emphasized. in art usually your eye goes to one impressive point that is more important than others.
  • Certainly emphasis does not make a work appealing to everyone, but without a focal point or emphasis you may be looking at a big pot of stew
    • Delaney Hensley

this is an example of "limiting the amount of content" writing can become a big confusing "pot of stew" like art.
  • placing it in off center to the left or right and either above or below the center line adds to the interest of the piece by giving the viewer introductory or supporting information
    • Delaney Hensley

placement of focalpoints is important because a persons eye likes to flow across art and other medias.

these pictures all have main points that your eye goes to first because they are emphasized with color or images.
  • Value brings out the differences among a foreground that is in your face, a midground that may serve as the focal area or simply support, and a background that may be miles away
    • Delaney Hensley

things in the foreground are emphasized by being bigger and the things in the backround are secondary objects.
  • Your eye goes to the brightest colors, but also to designs on an angle
    • Delaney Hensley

bright colors are a good way to emphasize important things. The eye is attracted to bright colors the quickest.
  • You can use color, shape, line, texture, value, space, and or form in a way that distinguished one element or area from the whole to focus the viewer through the piece.
    • Delaney Hensley

many elements can help distinguish important words or images. having dark colors with light colors is a good way to create a contrast.

      COOL EXAMPLE
  •
For those interested in abstract art and photography, this is a great page. It covers the principle of emphasis by providing excellent examples of art.
  •
I really liked this website because it showed how emphasis is necessary for artist creating paintings! Emphasis not only applys to composition and graphic design but also in art!
  •
This website is more about art and paintings, but is a very good example of emphasis and focal points. The page gives good examples on how to create a focal point from focal area, color dominance, value contrasts, visual movement, difference, and shape. Each section has different paintings from various artists but very good examples and ideas of how to lay out things and where the person observing will focus according to your layout.

Garden Design -- The Role Of Emphasis Plants In Creating A Composition > Dry Climate Ga... - 0 views

  • unity, diversity, simplicity, balance, scale and emphasis. This article focuses on the last of these elements – emphasis.
    • Delaney Hensley

emphasis is important in all types of design including floral design.
  • It can be powerful, such as in the case of a strong contrast, or gentle and subtle, such as where a group of low growing grasses emerge from a mass of prostrate ground covers.
    • Delaney Hensley

longer grass or flowers that show over a field of short grass are the primary point in landscape because many gardeners create emphasis on flowers because they are different colors and pretty:)
  • An emphasis plant can differ in some of its characteristics such as size and shape from the rest of the plants in the group
    • Delaney Hensley

like in an advertisement some words or images are emphasized by their size, color, or shape as described in chapter two. These are different ways to emphasize plants or other important things.
  • ...3 more annotations...
  • In fact the less attributes in which the emphasis plant is different, the stronger the contrast is likely to be.
    • Delaney Hensley

(like accents and contrasts) if all words (or plants) are emphasized then the important things could get lost and nothing will be emphasized, or stand out more.
  • While color contrast, whether created by flowers, fruit or foliage, is an obvious factor determining the emphasis potential of a particular plant, I’ll give a few examples of plants whose shape and form make them ideal candidates for this role
    • Delaney Hensley

colorful images can create emphasis, like colorful flowers.
  • This term includes real grasses, that is plants belonging to the family Poaceae, (Graminae) and plants from other botanical families that have a grass like habit.
    • Delaney Hensley

each plant has their own role in different cultures and create their own contrasts.

  • It can be difficult to accumulated out what affectionate of a allowance to accompany sometimes, abnormally if you are aggravating to adeptness a allowance that is inexpensive, useful, and that your allowance almsman will like. Instead of analytic appear the aloft old gifts, like abode sculptures and added home accessories, crop a emphasis at Replica Breitling Watches.
    • Delaney Hensley

this article shows the importance of emphasis, since these watches were emphasized they were probably bought more or atleast looked at more.
  • Now, however, replica watches are created to emphasis in actuality like the original. The alone aberancy amidst a replica watch and the age-old acclimation of the watch is the price. Replica watches do not accumulated accoutrements of dollars, and are acutely affordable.
    • Delaney Hensley

they put emphasis on a certain model of their watches and the PRICE was one of the main points they wanted to be noticed.
  • There are hundreds of acclimatized types of replica watches
    • Delaney Hensley

"hundreds of types" if all the font a page looks the same how do you know what parts are important to read. these watches need to be distiguished as different than all the others.
  • ...1 more annotation...
  • For an added feminine look, the Breitling Replica Watch is just the watch to emphasis at. This admirable Replica Breitling Breitling for Bentley Watches has all of the aforementioned top aloft anniversary as the man's version, but is artificial smaller, with a slight dejected casting to the watch face, accurate it actual feminine looking. Replica Breitling watches is not what they acclimated to be, but are, in fact, abounding better. Their top aloft and low amount makes them able adeptness for any occasion.
    • Delaney Hensley

this is a description of the watches. it is simple and to the point but nothing is emphasized here like it should be in ads. what is important to people about watches.

My List: A Collection on "Definitions of Rhetoric or Rhetorical" (TWC,301,RHETORIC) | D... - 1 views

  •
All three websites both describe rhetoric as a persuasive and effective form of speech. The use of rhetoric is when you want a favorable outcome in your favor. Through logos, pathos, and ethos rhetorical persuasion is possible. One website goes into more depth than the other two about what logos, pathos, and ethos is. Logos is the use of induction, pathos is creating an emotional link, and ethos is being viewed as trustworthy. This website explains how it is better to be open minded and create shared opinions, because then both sides can have something to agree on if they both have different views on the main topic. The Webster definition describes how this style of communication is ancient and dates back to the 14th century. Rhetoric can be performed with both speaking and writing persuasively. Free dictionary explains how rhetoric is more about the end result and not so much the process getting there.

I am posting my "reflection" here on the diigo page in hopes that other classmates will do the same...I am having difficulty in finding other blog pages to complete this assignment. I followed Valerie's link from the diigo page to access her comments and it seemed to be the easiest way. Thanks.

This web page goes into detail about the digital divide which is talked about in Flew's article. This article is my favorite because it goes into detail about digital divide and when it happened and exactly why this happened. I feel this information is important to know which is why I am going to push it into our Diigo group.

Here is my assignment and more to come on the "Get Started" Module. I thought we were supposed to bookmark it on our individual diigo profiles. It wasn't until I saw the bookmark option at the top of the screen that I realised I made a foolishly careless error :( ! Anyway, better late than never.
