Can't delete a file? Try Delete Doctor =) - Trainz Discussion Forums - 0 views

  • Just wanted to let you know of a useful freeware program called Delete Dr. by Kevin Solway. I recommended his plain backup before (and use it to back up my trainz files because it will only update changed files =) ). I was having a problem deleting a .tif in windows...I guess windows can't delete files with previews or something but anyhow, I downloaded this and presto, the file I could not delete was gone (delete file via DOS short name option). You can get this program and plain backup at: http://www.theabsolute.net/sware/

I use a program called Unlocker Assistant. This program will tell you what other program has the file locked and you can then decide whether or not to unlock the file. Regards

Handy Utility - Trainz Discussion Forums - 0 views

  •
Hey everyone, I just purchased a renewal to my spyware sweeper, and it came with a nice little utility called "window washer". It's something I'd recommend looking into. It cleans up all your unwanted files, and cleans up empty space (for remnants of deleted files, programs, etc). My computer runs like its new after using it the first time.

AJS Junction Kit FAQ - Page 2 - Trainz Discussion Forums - 0 views

I have a few pointers, I do these type of junctions daily * The most important tip is to place a JK Control Box object somewhere on the map. Without it, no animations will work. * I think it said in the manual that you should number the junctions from 1-4 in a clockwise manner while looking north. So basically, I put the Surveyor compass in such a way that I'm looking sl

How to make realistic Valleys/Mountains - Page 2 - Trainz Discussion Forums - 0 views

What I tend to do, and it works fairly well, is to run my track out first. I then use apply Vertex height or apply gradient to position my track at the proper gradient and height. That is stage 1. Stage 2 is where I use Smooth spline height on the track sections, to bring the land up to my track. I then use the 'Get height' in Topography, and 'Use height' to play a large flat area spanning the full width of the baseboard, at the level of the track. Every 5 or 10 meters in height, I lay down a new flat section at the new height. I make sure I am careful not to allow the sensitivity of the Topo radius brush over ride my neighboring lower or higher section. I make nice gradual transitions between each section level.

Can a scenario be created WITHOUT the ability for drivers to control trains? - Trainz D... - 0 views

The route can be modified if you do want to sit back and watch it all happen under programmed AI. All that you need to do is start at one extremity of the AI route. I'd suggest at Portal cH:

Track Priority - Trainz Discussion Forums - 0 views

  •
There is a script called "priorityz" (search for "smileyman") which allows you to change the train priority en-route (suppose you have a semi-fast service, non-stop to the first station taking the fast line (priority "1") , then calling on the slow line at all stations to the Terminus (priority "2") then proceeding to the yard for disposal (priority "3") Of course, "priorityz" is also useful if you forgot to assign a priority in Surveyor and you're stuck with the default "2"! Priorityz will let you change the priority at will. Hope that helps! Ian

Recommended routes? - Train-Sim.Com Forums - 0 views

I'm a little biased, but if you want routes that look and behave in a reasonably prototypical way, try: Port Ogden & Northern (see the screen shotz in this forum). IndustRail. RiversideRailroadCompany. All are on the Auran Trainz Download Station, all will install without any missing dependencies, and there are sessions for all of them. Phil

This post will hopefully offer several tips which the begining modeler, or the advanced modeler can use to make their routes better. These tips work in RL, and are easily applied to Trainz.

Question about catenary. - Trainz Discussion Forums - 0 views

  • The reason I liked that steel lattice type of catenary poles in my screenshots is because it looks post-modern and would go great in an urban setting I'm working on. I downloaded the catenary pack (NEC, Catenary Expansion, etc.) from the DLS and out of these, this lattice one looks the best. The NEC one in Michael Evan's screenshot in his post would work for a rural / countryside stretch in my layout.

How to use invisible track with driveable objects? - Trainz Discussion Forums - 0 views

  •
Place the track on the ground, and use the "Adjust Spline Height" button in advanced tab to raise it to the height(s) you require for an airplane, helicopter, ship or drivable car or truck. Place your intended locomotive object (any drivable object) on the track in Surveyor. In driver, the track will be invisible. I suggest adding invisible speed limits and/or signals as well.

Naming Content in Local Folder - Trainz Discussion Forums - 0 views

If you want to change something, Open for Edit in CMP. When you do this, it is moved to the Edit folder where the folder name is changed to the item's name so you can find it. I normally do this, CCP takes too long for me and I still can't understand it, this method hasn't crashed on me yet. __________________
