"This site will aim to show how schools can become more sustainable places if they take a critical approach to geography.
It will consider this question:
If geography teachers and students view schools as exciting places that are worthy of study - can they have a significant role in mapping and enabling sustainable change?
It is based on an approach to learning sometimes called 'place-based learning' but here described as sustainable geography."
A particularly significant initiative is a dedicated ITE website called Education for a Sustainable Future, jointly owned and managed by the Institute of Education at Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU) and the Moray House Faculty of Education of the University of Edinburgh. Developed from a Scottish ITE module and the EU funded SEEPS Project, which promotes school focused programmes in education for sustainability, it provides on-line supported self study materials, consisting of activities and resources linked to a study guide.
