There is a growing number of acadmics and researchers (faculty and students) engaging with Transition Initiatives and Transition Network. Initially, their work was typically around community involvement in sustainability. Latterly, we're seeing more niche type research into, for example, economic areas such as local complementary currencies.

Centre for Action Research in Professional PracticeLearning and Change through action r... - 1 views

  •
Action research lies at the very centre of human life. . Action research is a family of approaches through which we can work to develop democratic dialogue in the service of mutual understanding and more informed action. It is an approach to living based on experience and engagement, on love and respect for the integrity of oneself and others. It depends on our willingness to rise above presupposition, to look, and to look again, to try out different behaviours, to risk security in the search for understanding and appropriate forms of action. All this in the service of opening possibilities for creative living.A

An inspiring visit to Holland - Ellen MacArthur Foundation - 0 views

  • I felt a difference in Holland with the most surprising part being the language used around the subject. Merieke van der Werf, a politician from Amsterdam, talked about not just improving the current industrial system to be a bit more efficient, but redesigning how it worked so that it actually had a positive impact.
  • I absolutely love their thinking, which turns everything on its head.
