  • Aravo, the leading provider of SaaS Supplier Information Management (SIM) software and services, today announced the results of a new supplier risk poll exploring the opinions and concerns of Fortune 1000 executives. While global corporations are focusing on creating collaborative partnerships with suppliers to make supply chains more efficient, the poll indicates that their top concerns include ongoing supplier financial viability, ensuring regulatory compliance, and managing suppliers in emerging markets.
  • A significant number of those polled (71.4%) expressed that their biggest concern continues to be risk of supplier financial viability. However, despite these concerns, more than half of the financial, procurement and risk executives polled have less than 20% of their supplier base under active risk management.

Four Steps to Mitigating Supplier Risk and Protect Your Supply Chain - 0 views

  • Supplier risk management is defined as the process of predicting and preparing for the probability of variables which may adversely or favorably affect the supply chain. Supplier risk management is not a new concept; however, the type of risk that can affect the supply chain and the way in which these risks are managed and mitigated has evolved significantly. The need for proactive and predictive management strategies is ever present in business today.

The 4-step plan for cutting value-chain emissions - 0 views

  •
Assessing GHG emissions through the entire value chain is not about measuring for the sake of measuring- it's about measuring GHG emissions in order to manage and reduce them. A full assessment of a company's value chain is an essential first step in reducing emissions, as it identifies the areas with highest emissions and enables a company to target efforts where there is the most opportunity for reductions. Companies that develop the most effective methods to engage with their suppliers can benefit from improved supply chain efficiency; reduced risk from suppliers passing on higher energy or emissions-related costs; reduced risk of supply chain business interruption; improved relationships with suppliers; and identification of new revenue streams.

Balance Supplier Risk Versus Reward - 0 views

  • In the wake of constant demand and supply market changes driven by recent economic crises, procurement and supply chain professionals are facing higher expectations from management to drive down costs. But a myopic focus on cost savings can have an impact on supply and supplier risk, and can result in the unintended consequence of diluting the total value delivered from that supplier relationship. The key, therefore, is to balance supplier risk with reward to obtain the greatest benefit from suppliers while minimizing risks.

Avoiding The Corporate Death Spiral: World Class Suppliers Need World Class Customers - 0 views

  • As part of their effort to slash the cost of auto parts by 30% over the next three years, Toyota met with its suppliers last week to enlist their help in the process. Based on their reputation for dealing with suppliers, I'm guessing that Toyota will approach the process in a much different manner than most companies, and the process will be very successful.

Greening the Manufacturing Supply Chain, Part 2 - 0 views

"Back to supply chains (although if you are a builder of commercial space then Interface is probably in your supply chain). A recent Environmental Leader article discussed a survey of the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) regarding their attitudes towards suppliers (supply chain) that do not manage their carbon. These are real companies in the survey (like PepsiCo, Dell, Google, IBM, Kellogg, HP and Unilever.) The results are enlightening. Over 1000 suppliers to these companies were surveyed. Survey reported that 38% of the supply chain respondents have some type of carbon reduction targets in place. Of these respondents, almost two thirds report Scope 1 and Scope 2 emission. Scope 3 emissions are reported by 8%. Strikingly, 56% of the CDP members (remember the big companies listed above?) say that they may eliminate suppliers who don't manage carbon."

Research Finds Supply Chain Vendors Slow to Adopt Use of Social Media to Engage With Cu... - 0 views

  •
The use of social media by B-to-B suppliers and vendors for customer relationship management (CRM) is limited, but those who are using social media for CRM are creating better experiences for their customers and are earning benefits as a result, according to a recent social CRM study released today by Kemp Goldberg Partners and IDG Research Services. More than half (58 percent) of the participants were either totally unaware of how their primary supply chain providers are using social media or thought suppliers and vendors were not using social media to interact with customers.

Collaboration and the evolving semiconductor supply chain - 12/30/2009 - Electronic Bus... - 0 views

  •
Today's electronics design and manufacturing landscape is very different than that of even just a few years ago. Increased globalization and pressure to outsource has increased the distance between engineers and production facilities. Consolidation of semiconductor suppliers has become an industry trend. Coupled with a desire to rationalize supplier bases, this has made design houses and manufacturing companies more reliant on a smaller number of supply partners, which can result in greater risk to supply disruption.

5 Simple Ways to Create a Green Procurement Program - 0 views

  • Develop a Code of Conduct that includes Green. Be clear with what you are looking for in a supplier. Many industry trade groups have codes of conduct that spell out expected behaviors in terms of labor, products, GHG emissions and handling of waste. Point to those, or develop your own, but make it clear that it is more than a pamphlet; it is the way you do business and you expect your suppliers to do business.
  • Reward good behavior. Keeping tabs on your suppliers, either by encouraging them to respond to the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) or through other audit mechanisms. That way you can see which suppliers have made a commitment to operating more sustainably. Reward that good behavior with a larger share of your business.
