As I was exploring possibilities, I came across one of the very best overviews I've seen to date about the Read-Write Web. So today, I'm simply going to embed this marvelous example of a Flowgram. There are two major challenges, however, when it comes to using these resources. The first challenge is the time-consuming task of finding exactly what you need. The second challenge arises from the sad reality that Youtube is actually blocked in far too many schools. Here's a resource that helps on both counts. SqoolTube has searched and catalogued an extremely valuable collection of Youtube videos that support learning at the elementary or primary school level (K-8). These videos are then passed along from the SqoolTube URL, so unless a school or school district is excessively restrictive, it is unlikely that these videos will be blocked. Videos are categorized by subject area (math, music, reading & communication, safety, science, science, Spanish, social studies). There are also three other headings: Book-Related; Early Childhood; Holidays. I especially like some of the video versions of children's books that are available." comment by Paul Hamilton

This lesson explores the use of verbs to add dramatic interest to poems. Hundreds of hyperlinked pages and images illustrate the traits and general biology of these groups. Professional biologists prepare this part. Animal Diversity Web Is An Online Encyclopedia. ADW is a large searchable encyclopedia of the natural history of animals. Every day, thousands of classroom students and informal visitors use it to answer animal questions. Other sites specialize in local, endangered, or particular kinds of animals. We aim to be as comprehensive as possible. A Science Learning Tool. ADW facilitates inquiry-driven learning, that is, teaching about science by leading students to use the methods of science. Our large database is structured, providing consistent information for all species to foster comparisons. An advanced search tool allows a user to call up species accounts fitting any combination of descriptors. Students can explore for patterns and relationships, learn how to frame and answer scientific questions and, with the help of a good teacher, experience the excitement and satisfaction of doing science. Our long-term goal is to create a database rich enough that students can discover for themselves basic concepts in ecology and conservation biology.
