OpenVocab is ideal for properties and classes that don't warrant the effort of creating or maintaining a full schema. The Java Text Categorizing Library (JTCL) is a pure java 1.5 implementation of libTextCat which in turn is "a library that was primarily developed for language guessing, a task on which it is known to perform with near-perfect accuracy". It's distributed under the LGPL and can also be used in order to categorize text into arbitrary topics by computing appropiate fingerprints which represent the categories.

Efficient assembly of social semantic networks

An individual may create or reinforce a relationship between two resources by applying a common tag or organizing them in a common folder. This has led to the exploration of techniques for building networks of resources, categories, and people using the social annotations. In order for these techniques to move from the lab to the real world, efficient building and maintenance of these potentially large networks remains a major obstacle. Methods for assembling and indexing these large networks will allow researchers to run more rigorous assessments of their proposed techniques. Toward this goal we explore an approach from the sparse matrix literature and apply it to our system, GiveALink.org. We also investigate distributing the assembly, allowing us to grow the network with the body of resources, annotations, and users.

PowerMeeting is a Web-based synchronous groupware framework. It also refers to a research prototype that demonstrates the kind of groupware built with the framework. Such groupware allow participants to plan, perform, and coordinate their synchronous collaboration.

KML is a file format used to display geographic data in an earth browser, such as Google Earth, Google Maps, and Google Maps for mobile. A KML file is processed in much the same way that HTML (and XML) files are processed by web browsers. Like HTML, KML has a tag-based structure with names and attributes used for specific display purposes. Thus, Google Earth and Maps act as browsers for KML files.

SWAML, pronounced [swæml], is a research project around the semantic web technologies to publish the mailing lists' archives into a RDF format. It has been developed by the CTIC Foundation and the WESO-RG at University of Oviedo (Spain). You can visit the project page at BerliOS for more details. SWAML process description SWAML reads a collection of email messages stored in a mailbox (from a mailing list compatible with RFC 4155) and generates a RDF description. It is written in Python using SIOC as the main ontology to represent in RDF a mailing list.
