Wow, such an interesting direction that online/distance learning is taking through MOOCS (Massive Open Online Course). Mobile Email Newsletters (Jakob Nielsen's Alertbox) - 0 views

This in an interesting study about newsletters and usability issues on a mobile platform, that came to me via some of my Linkedin contacts. I have been responsible for the office newsletter in several workplaces and making the newsletter accessible via mobile phones is definitely something to think about especially as more companies are providing smartphones for employees.

Twitter Upgrades Highlight Larger Trend - 0 views

  •
This article is written by Jason Cassidy from this year's graduating MPC class. He touches on how social media platforms are becoming more visually focused. Also, there is an increasing "mobile-first strategy" mentality - that websites and applications are being developed on mobile platforms before a compatible desktop version is available. "Images get consumers thinking, stimulate conversations and motivate actions and purchasing decisions."

OTTAWA - Tony Clement may be king of social media in political circles on Parliament Hill, but he didn't get to be mayor of his own Twitter town hall. During an online chat on the subject of open government, the Treasury Board president, who is a prolific tweeter, had a ghostwriter doing most of the work for him.

Twitter Working on Photo Filters - 1 views

  •
It seems like Twitter's been busy upgrading its service to be more visual-oriented. is this a counter move to Facebook's purchase and integration of Instagram? Does it make sense in the Twitterverse to have the ability to add filters/effects to twitpics?

A new crowd funding platform allows community members pay for their own civic improvements. Community members can petition for projects as well as contribute to ones municipalities have put forward. I also really like that there are no rewards for contributing, just "a sense of neighbourly satisfaction". :)

It always amazes me how people are finding new ways to communicate with out another. Changing the name of your wi-fi network to passive-agressively tell off your neighbour - hilarious. Just shows how much communication takes place on a virtual platform.

Twitter's most active country is China (where it is blocked) - 0 views

  •
It's not much of a surprise when China tops a "world's most" list since it does, after all, have the biggest population. It is, however, intriguing that a new study discovered that China is the most active country for Twitter, as the service is blocked there. I find this interesting because they have Sina Weibo, the Chinese equivalent of Twitter (which I use to follow Asian public figures), and yet they choose to go the extra length to use a platform that is blocked in their country. It's surprising that (according to the article) China and India have more Twitter users than the US.
