    Assisted Technology pioneer, RJ Cooper will discuss and present apps and adaptations for children with disabilities. He will also discuss techniques necessary for successful intervention, how iPads and adaptive technology unite and how these adaptions can aide in fun and play for all. This training will help instructors/trainers/teachers/health providers and parents/families expand their knowledge and participation with assistive technology and adaptations of the iPad so children of all abilities can be inclusive with family, community and everyday life. This training will give ideas on how the family can promote development and participation and give professionals ideas and resources on how to guide families.  Now iPads and adaptive technology unite and these adaptions can aide in fun and play for all.     The NAMI Billings Bike Ride is is one of the only family-oriented cycling events in Montana, and we encourage all ages and skill levels to participate. This is a non-competitive event that helps NAMI Billings (National Alliance on Mental Illness) continue to educate, support, and advocate for all those affected by mental illness.

    You'll be treated to great food, live music, safe and fun cycling, and great company. Riders that raise a minimum of $250 will receive a custom NAMI cycling jersey. This is a fully supported event with four different route options: 5, 10, 20, and 33 miles. Bring the family out for some fun on your bikes! When/Where:

  • Visit the Mason's Mountain Run Website What: This race is being started to celebrate the life of a very special boy, Mason Bailey Shuck. Mason died in August 2009 after living with mitochondrial disease for 11 years. His spirit and sense of humor lives on with us today. He enjoyed many days in the mountains, hiking and camping. This race/walk is to enjoy a day in the beautiful mountains and to encourage anyone who is capable to run for those who can’t. June 11th will be a day to celebrate and have fun. You can sign up for a challenging 10K trail run or participate in a family fun trail walk. For those individuals, especially special needs children, who are unable to participate in the 10K trail run or moutain walk, a treasure hunt will be set up around the Lion's Camp. This will be a fun time to find prizes while following a trail of knock knock jokes. After both events there will be a BBQ lunch to just enjoy and appreciate nature and our lives together. Paraprofessionals Achieving Standards Successfully (PASS) - Bozeman - Aug 5-9, 2013 - 0 views

    What:
    MEA-MFT PASS is an intensive four-day course, designed to help Montana paraprofessionals meet Federal qualification standards contained in the No Child Left Behind Act. The course has been developed by and for Montana paraprofessionals and provides participants with important skills in classroom management as well as proven strategies in reading, writing, and math instruction, taught in a dynamic and fun setting. A nationally developed assessment is built directly into the four-day course, assuring that paraprofessionals who take the course can demonstrate evidence of content mastery to their local districts and the state of Montana. Course materials are taken from the nationally recognized and award winning Educational Research and Dissemination (ER&D) program, developed by the American Federation of Teachers (AFT). A team of highly trained educators from throughout the state are responsible for teaching the course. Each trainer has received over 70 hours of ER&D training at the national level.

    Easter Seals-Goodwill is offering a series of classes using Michelle Garcia Winner's "Think Social!" curriculum to help kids ages 9-14 who need extra support in learning and practicing social skills. Group leaders include people with backgrounds in P.L.A.Y. (Play and Language for Autistic Youngsters), social work, special education, and one-on-one work with kids of ranging abilities. Our goal is to provide a safe and fun environment for kids to explore and learn about our social world together!

A Model Program for Supporting Parents with Learning Differences - Webinar - Apr. 23, 2013 - 0 views

    During this webinar, engage with Pearl Buck Center's Preschool Director, Dr. Renee Van Norman, as she describes a tiered model of prevention and promotion that focuses on providing comprehensive interventions and supports to children and their families by matching the intensity of interventions to the individual need for support (McIntosh et al., 2006). In this preschool program-wide model, universal-level supports were delivered to families through carefully crafted school-wide activities and Family Fun/Education Nights. Secondary and tertiary-level supports were provided through home visits and classroom instruction. Assessment data and related tools as part of a system of continuous quality improvement will be shared.
