Mark your calendars to attend the Montana Conference for Exceptional Children Conference on April 13-15th in Billings, Montana. Scholarships are available for this event (see below). The Theme this year is: Special Education in the 21st Century: Tools for the Future If you are interested in presenting at this conference, visit http://www.mtcec.org/conference Click here to download the Scholarship Application (PDF) A limited number of scholarships are available on a first come, first serve basis for residents of Region IV consisting of the following counties: Park, Gallatin, Meagher, Broadwater, Lewis and Clark, Jefferson, Madison, Powell, Granite, Silverbow and Beaverhead Scholarships are available to use for registration costs up to $400.00 per school/organization. Scholarships will be awarded to teams attending one of the listed conferences. Teams should include a combination of personnel such as General Educators, Special Educators, Paraeducators, Administrators, Related Service Personnel, Parent, and/or Agency Personnel. Each team must attach a narrative identifying the school/organization goals and a description of how attending the specified conference will help the team make systemic changes to the school/organization. iPad summits are for staff who already have an iPad and are familiar with its use. Participants will hear information on specific topics and share applications. Attendace is limited and priority for this summit is given to staff from CSPD Regioin IV. These workshops will assist teachers in the implementation of a Response to Intervention (RtI) Model in Middle and High Schools. Workshops will help participants put a successful three-tier model into place at their schools.

RESA4U and Region IV CSPD are partnering to present a Region IV Summer Institute. Registration for the three-day Institute is $100 per person and housing is available at the UM-Western campus dormitories. Judy Wood, author of Teaching the Hard to Reach, will be the keynote speaker for Monday, June 11th. Judy focuses on building a successful intervention system for at-risk students or students with unique needs within general education settings. On Tuesday, June 12 and Wednesday, June 13, educators will be able to choose from a variety of course offerings designed to enhance classroom instruction. One post-baccalaureate credit is available for attending the conference for three days. A second credit, requiring extended study, will be offered as well. The cost for each credit is $115 and is paid directly to UM-Western. These credits can be used for certificate renewal through OPI; participants would need to check with their school districts for approval regarding PIR or lane changes. When:
