College Board- Compare Colleges - 0 views

  •
Many people have heard about and used the College Board website to help with college prep. However, I thought I would share this one tidbit of a tool that is within College Board called "Compare Colleges." This is a tool that you plug in any three colleges and it will line their information up next to each other. This information includes; name, location, type (private/public), campus life (how many students, rural/suburban/city, size), admissions (selectivity, requirements, score ranges), and cost and aid. This was a great way to see the colleges I was interested in without having to pull the information from their separate websites.

College and Degrees- College Search - 1 views

  •
This is a great source that allows you to select a major and location to find the best schools and programs for you. Once you choose a degree and location the website gives you a list of colleges. From there you can request information from the college itself, and/or it will take you to external sites with more information. It is a perfect source for beginning your college search!

Facebook- College Research - 0 views

  •
I know this seems like an anti productive sight to be using for college planning and research, but for me (and potentially you!) Facebook is a great source! Facebook provides an easy way to communicate with people about college. Personally, I talked with students attending the colleges I was researching, and had the ability to easily plan visits with them on campus! I used the site to follow my friends college experience through their Facebook profiles, pictures, and chats. Facebook is a source to take advantage of in a positive way to research and choose colleges.

Unigo- College Search - 0 views

  •
Unigo is another great college research source. I particularly like this sight because its focus is on the opinions of students attending the college, with less insight from the college itself. The information I found on Unigo was honest, with both good and bad responses about my college. It was a great way to look at my "dream schools" from a different point of view through comments, photos, and videos. Unigo has a really great, straightforward college search that narrowed down my top colleges. Also, Unigo had great tips on college essay writing, and filling out applications.

College Board- SAT Question of the Day - 0 views

  •
SAT Question of the day was such a great tool! Studying for something like the SAT is stressful, and sometimes you just avoid it all together because you don't know how to go about it! Believe me, I did...until I found this source! SAT Question of the day works in two ways; you can have the site email you one practice question a day, or you can go on the the College Board SAT site and do a question (or many questions) each day! I found this to be a very laid back, effective, and organized way to study for the SATs. I highly recommend using this source!

Cappex- College Research - 0 views

  •
Again, another great tool for college research. This site is very organized. Though it shares a lot of the same qualities as other college research sources (finding a college, scholarship chances, admission chances, etc.) my favorite part of it is how organized the student reviews are. Through Cappex, you can choose one of your favorite colleges, and see one students review of the school in entirety, then scroll down and see the next students review of the school. It is organized in a way that you can see clearly multiple students opinions about the same area of the college. Cappex is easy to navigate, and another strong source to use for college research.

I like this site because anyone could read it, understand what it it means, and begin composing. It's geared towards people with only a little experience in music. If you would like to write songs, but haven't done much with actual instruments, I would recommend this site for you.

This website is very useful in telling you what colleges are ranked the best for pharmacy and even goes to the length of giving you a lot of information about the colleges like price and location. This website is very good for someone who's farther along in school and is closer to going to college.

I've recently become obsessed with this website. In fact, it was my main reference for the majority of my Thanksgiving dishes this year. I love the elegance of the food, yet the retaliative simplicity as well. Most everything is extremely healthy and focused on a vegetarian and vegan diet. Another thing I love about this website is that under the "Resources" tab, it has a section on how to start a blog, which I no doubt will be using as I try to improve my own!

Polygyny In A Wild Wolf Pack - 0 views

  •
A study by David Mech and Michael Nelson about mating patterns in North American Gray Wolves. The study was conducted on radio tagged wolves in the Superior National Forest of Minnesota. It is commonly understood that Gray Wolves mate for life, most commonly with a member of the same pack and can produce as much offspring as a litter per year of their adult life. This article defies that pre-conceived notion, following a single male who interacts with multiple females while they are both in heat. The male is tracked meeting with both females at the same time over 19 times, always in areas far from the occupation of any other wolves or packs. It is interesting to see that, like humans, wolves have a tendency to stray from the common institution of a single mate for life.

The Wolf Almanac - 0 views

  •
The "Wolf Almanac" is a tremendous source, as it covers everything there is to know about all wolves. A particular part of the book I focused on was the chapter about wolf behavior and activities. The section covers the structure of a wolf pack, and mentions several examples of studied wolf packs in Alaska's Denali National Park. The section extensively covers the average size of a wolf pack as well as the different roles wolves have within the pack, and how those roles are communicated. The book is well illustrated by beautiful photos and sites notable wolf biologists such as John Theberge. It was very useful in my research and helped to give me a great preliminary understanding of wolf behavior.

Wolves: A Wildlife Handbook - 0 views

  •
This book is very much a wildlife handbook. It is short and succinct. The section that was beneficial to my research about pack structure held very little new information, but one thing stood out. A paragraph talked about the size of a wolf pack, and how it is limited because if the pack is too large wolves can become distant from each other emotionally. Without strong emotional closeness among all wolves in the pack, a pack does not function properly. This was very helpful as it answered an important question I have been thinking about: why don't wolves just run in large herds and maximize the amount of food that they can hunt. A very good resource if even for that small amount of information.
