One of the main points of this site is biology of the deer, which is basically what they eat, their species, population number, location, and a little bit of anatomy. The other main points are Their habitat, why not to feed /bait deer, and what impacts do deer have on people. The purpose is to let people know the information in each of the main points and to have people be more knowledgeable about Vermont deer. The basic topics are pretty much species,what deer eat, where they live, how they survive, why not to biat, populations, and management. If someone wanted to know what this article is about I would say vermont big game. This is a useful site if you want to have a good summary of Vermont deer. This site goes over many good topics even though they don't go crazy in depth it is still a good site for me. There are sites outside of new England that go much farther into detail, but this site is still pretty helpful. This site has good information for me considering I am studying overall biology and management. I would recommend this site to someone who wants a great splurge of information about vermont deer, but if someone wanted to know more information about deer or if they needed info on specific topics that go deep into detail, than this site may not be for them. This site was pretty helpful because it gave information about everything and wrote two to three sentences about each and every topic . For example, the site says that "deer are completely vegetarian. They eat a variety of leaves, twigs, and nuts. In Vermont, a deer's diet consists of maple, ash, birch twigs and leaves. Small plants, grasses, and fruit and nuts such as apples, acorns, and beechnuts also are important foods."Clearly, this site goes into detail and has valuable information. I now know that I have furthered my knowledge about deer. Once I pick a specific topic to study I may have to pick sites outside of Vermont because states with a higher deer density and more money can study deer

This website gives extremely detailed and secific analysis of snow conditions in the mountains of Northern Utah, but is also useful for anyone trying to learn about what conditions are ripe for avalanches. Every day the site gives a description of each possible type of avalanche, the likelihood of it happening and where, what will cause it, and the potential severity of the slide. The website also gives a detailed analysis of all previous avalanches, explaining why it happened and the effect that it had.

This was a very useful video for me at the beginning of my independent study, it shows in detail how to center and throw a pot, which can be very difficult and is what I spend most of my time doing. The woman in the video also gives good instruction and help me a great deal.

This is a brilliant story by the New York Times detailing an avalanche that occurred in Washington state that took three lives. It is an extremely detailed report on the snow conditions, terrain, and decisions made by the skiers that were conducive to the avalanche.

This site makes finding the major and finer structures of the brain easy. The intuitive layout lets the user go through the brain, slice by slice, to reveal actual MRI data and drawn pictures that are clearly labeled to indicate surface and subcortical structures. You can zoom in on actual microscope pictures to reveal cells in the brain and see detailed pictures of how they connect. The detailed pictures use horizontal axis (top of brain to bottom), coronal axis (front to back), and sagittal axis (side to side) scans so that you are able to develop a picture of a three dimensional map of the human brain, in your mind. One of the hardest things to picture when I first began researching about the anatomy of the human brain, was picturing where all the subcortical structures were positioned in relation to each other. By using the many informative anatomical and chemical maps, I was able to clear up the issues I had had with trying to visualize a three dimensional model. This source is very reliable, as it uses real images for the slices you see as you navigate the brain. This source also comes from the University Institut für Anatomie, so the data was observed first hand there, making it reliable. I will be using this information that I have gathered to add to my brain portfolio document, and will be a useful tool if I decide to make a three dimensional model of the brain.

This is a useful source because of how much writing there is about each disease. When compared to other sites I have used this site goes further in detail about each topic. This information for me was written by a reliable source and relates to my focus. I would recommend this source to anyone who wants to learn about deer diseases. This was a work that I used for an American Studies paper. It was about how women gained power during World War One, and how they expressed that power through writing. I was able to access this article through Ms. Burdett's JSTOR account, which was a very useful website because you had access to work that wasn't published on the broader internet and you could keep it all bookmarked together. I knew this was reliable because it was associated with a college, and the author used in-text citations so I could double check her sources if I wanted to. However, it was biased because the author was writing a persuasive piece. She started the work with a debatable thesis and gave evidence throughout the article to support it. This was one of the most challenging articles I've read because it was written at a college level, but the information was at a higher level as well. The author went very in-depth, and while the sheer amount of information was sometimes hard to sort through, it gave me better details in the end. The only drawback I would tell someone else who wanted to use this source was that it was on JSTOR, so I needed Ms. Burdett's password and permission whenever I wanted to use it.

This article is a personal story about the author's trip to Peru. It especially focuses on the deeper culture that most tourists may not notice, but this author especially sought out. It traces her journey from Lima, to Cusco, to Machu Picchu. I chose to read this article because I am applying to study abroad in Peru next year, and I wanted to know more about the culture. I liked this source because it gave a varied view of many components of Peruvian culture from food, to architecture, to what the people were like. It is definitely biased, however. The author seems to be in love with Peru and doesn't get into the challenges of immersing herself in the culture. I think I should read a few more reviews before hopping on the plane, but this article was definitely a good starting point. This source helped my learning by giving me a broad overview that I can now choose specific details from to research more thoroughly. Reading this article made me more eager to study abroad and did a great job "selling" the culture of Peru. However, it was written more from a traveler's perspective and didn't really show me what it would be like to live in Peru for an extended period of time.
