Looking for a conference with a difference? What story do you have to tell? The #motm12 Unconference is built around stories for the purpose of making strong connections with other passionate educators who are integrating ICT with pedagogy. 

While it's no secret that there seems to be more use and reliance on digital and blended learning with each passing semester, a transition may be happening faster than you think writes Tom Vander Ark. At a conference he talked about a dozen of the factors accelerating the shift to digital learning:

If we teach our children to think then they will do better on the test and they will do better in life. This was one of the clear messages delivered by the presenters at the International Conference on Thinking (ICOT) in Bilbao, Spain.

"While some education conferences are genuinely inspiring, others serve mostly to demonstrate how even intelligent educators can be remarkably credulous, nodding agreeably at descriptions of programs that ought to elicit fury or laughter, avidly copying down hollow phrases from a consultant's PowerPoint presentation, awed by anything that's borrowed from the business world or involves digital technology. Many companies and consultants thrive on this credulity, and also on teachers' isolation, fatalism, and fear (of demands by clueless officials to raise test scores at any cost). With a good dose of critical thinking and courage, a willingness to say "This is bad for kids and we won't have any part of it," we could drive these outfits out of business -- and begin to take back our schools."

Today's Meet is an alternative chat room like space where you can quickly setup and invite others to join to collaborate, make comments and suggestions and reflect on meetings presentations etc. As the Today's Meet folks say: Using Twitter at social media conferences has become a great way to do just that. But Twitter isn't appropriate for every situation. * Your audience isn't on Twitter. * You don't want the discussion to be public. * You need to see only relevant updates"

VotApedia is an audience response system that doesn't require issuing clickers or need specialist infrastructure. Known users can create surveys and edit the pages on this site. Audience response systems are widely used for education, but not commonly in Australia. It is hoped that removing the complication and expense of clickers will encourage the use of this teaching aid in Australian educational institutions. VotApedia is intended for co-located audiences but also works with remote audiences which has previously been a different class of application. Surveys are in a multiple choice question (MCQ) form.
