"I remixed this awesome scavenger hunt originally created by Joyce Valenza and added a QR Code Twist! I re-worked some of the questions for a lesson with my adorable ESOL kids (we have 35 right now in our ESOL program & one cute be-freckled girl just came yesterday & speaks no English at all but she LOVED scanning the codes when I handed her my Droid Fascinate!) The rest of the kids have varying degrees of English proficiency but still will benefit from a few visual clues. So the scavenger hunt questions are intentionally simply & clearly worded combined with pics I created as QR Code Hints. You can also use this lesson for special needs classes, Library Media orientation, or even re-mix the questions, QR Codes, & hints for just about ANY subject area! To create the hints I used a combination of Photoshop, Flickr, bit.ly and my favourite QR Code generator, Kaywa."

A little self-indulgent, however I'm interested in seeing what other people do with their classes. This is the montage of our recent medieval tournament. We also do an archaeological dig and other historical re-enactments. If anyone else has footage, images or descriptions of activities or re-enactments they do with their classes I'd be really interested to see them. And steal their ideas.

Challenge to educators re integrating educational technologies. From another Diigo group.

Andrew Churches post re:  a project out of Harvard University. The essence of this project is a series of routines or perhaps "mantras" for thinking. They are simple and to the point. While more suited to Middle school students they are good, apt and appropriate. Some of the truth and understanding routines will definitely have a place in senior classes.

Sydney has become a beacon that brings people together and sparks conversations. Most recently the conversation centred on the topic of girls in tech and what might be done to re-dress the gender balance in STEAM subjects and related career pathways. Sponsored by INTEL this Vivid Ideas event drew a mix of entrepreneurs, educators and tech luminaries to the Museum of Contemporary Art on a Saturday afternoon to share their ideas on what might be done.

HelloSlide is a pdf-only tool that allows you to add computer-generated voice to your documents. Upload your presentation, type the speech for each slide, and the programs automatically generates audio. Presentations are searchable, editable, and available in 20 different languages. An edit feature allows you to tweak the speech without re-recording the audio. Translations are available as a paid feature. This may be useful for ESL learners. (Note: it is super easy to export PowerPoint and Keynote files as pdfs.)

I great re-print from 1972, where Alan Kay describes, even draws what is effectively a tablet or eBook, and argues for it's technological and pedagogical value in schools. Amazingly he priced this at $500, which was quite a sum back then, and almost exactly the price of netbooks and tablets today.

The ABC's Four Corners program last night 'A Revolution in the Classroom', was a genuine attempt to re-focus public attention away from the old public vs private school debate and on to the core challenges of schooling.  I don't believe quality learning and teaching in public, private or independent schools is a revolution but rather a necessary requirement in today's world.

A teacher created these for her classroom so that she could share Bloom's with her kids in different ways that would make their classroom fun, but also give them a different way of viewing the information. Here she is sharing her Bloomin' Tree. As she started making her Bloom's re-imagines, students started coming to her with ideas of how to display the information. The tree was a student idea and the boy underneath is Lance, who made the suggestion.

Forcing libraries to rebuy ebooks after 26 loans because that is how fast a paperback wears out? Crikey, what about an eBook version of one chisseled out of a marble slab?
