Start spreading the News to leave some PD time open during the K12 online conference October 20-24 and 27-31! If you want to download the flyer you can get it in PDF format. http://k12onlineconference.org/ Julie and I met 3 years a go at the K12 online conference and shortly thereafter the first Flat Classroom Project was born. Little did we know we'd be keynoting a strand so soon. But the best thing about the K12 online conference is you -- us. All of "us" -- the loosely defined, ever changing edublogosphere full of plurkers, lurkers, and prolific conversationalists. So, you've been hanging around the fringes wondering if all of this "stuff" is for you and your classroom. I challenge you -- read / listen to ONE session -- participate in ONE conversation. Just dip you toe in and see what you think! Share what you're doing! Learn from others! This is not about any ONE person telling US how to do things the best way. This is about US telling US how to do things. Free. By teachers and educators for teachers and educators. What is there to lose?

The latest edition of Measuring the Information Society, which features the new ITU ICT Development Index captures the level of advancement of information and communication technologies (ICTs) in more than 150 countries worldwide and compares progress made between 2002 and 2007. The data and graphs make for fascinating reading making the point that the magnitude of the digital divide between countries remains almost unchanged over these last five years. This proved quite popular, so I have done it again this year. I have selected 100 resources - articles postings, PDFs, presentations, videos etc - about (workplace and academic) learning, tools or technologies that I found of interest or practical use or made me think! The 100 resources are listed below, chronologically by the month in which they appeared. "

Some great links to resources on many different educational areas. Will need time to do the research.

The "Shakespeare Insult Generator" by "Playing With Plays" is a very fun way to help your student discover Shakespearian English. The concept is very simple, you download a PDF document which contain three columns. All you have to do to create an insult is to choose one word from each of the three columns and here you go. It is a much better tool than using modern foul language! All the "instructions" are provided on the "Playing With Plays" website.
